Can't recall ever listening to Radio Wales, even when there or passing through. Used to be able to listen to some eastern european stations. Recording parts spoken and taking the tape into school, for one of the teachers to identify the language.
Where'd you get yards of copper cable, without raising questions.
The only time I've listened in on a "regular"(more than once a week), was via satellite dish. Which was a novelty back then(70's), and out in the middle of nowhere.
What were wrong with Radio Scotland?
This announcement, verbal or prerecorded "theme tune". Regular time and place on yer dial every time.
Copper cable hard come by for homemade antennae these days, that yer buying in ready made.
There used to be books available in the local library which listed the range of frequencies on which you could expect to get something on, as well as fixed frequency stations/operators.
The books went slowly after the radio club stopped meeting in the pub less than fifty yards down the road. All three now gone!
Parts of those good olde days could do with being brought back. Everything available in an instant, no working things out for yerssen.

Shopping and GCing, Tha's been a busy Bob...
Can't try too hard.
Cost a packet before the "Big River" became available?Enamelled copper wire, bought spools of it (legally)
If you want to test the 'nulling' ability of any antenna, choose the strongest station (on AM) available.
Voila !!!
I used to buy the WRTH, which is still available..
I use one or two for my SDRplay SDRuno program, which you can download and update regularly.
If you have, say, we'll use medium wave AM again. 873 khz....
Use this HERE
This guide lets you know what is on that frequency in Europe.....
And it always seems to be thassen....It's a tough job BUT someone has to do it.....
Can't remember the price, and quite possibly I got it in Tandy.Cost a packet before the "Big River" became available?
I'll take yer word on that. You use them more than me.
Don't buy it any more. Available online for free these days I suppose.
You use that list often, or as reference before you go on the air?
You get many contacts in the former eastern block and middle east....
And it always seems to be thassen....
You cope okay?
You've had it a while then. How long have Tandy been gone from the high street now...Can't remember the price, and quite possibly I got it in Tandy.
or somewhere that advertised in PW (practical wireless mag).
I occasionally have a listen to the shortwaves, fewer stations now streaming services are easier.
Perseus and eibi are frequency markers, I can call up those that are 'live', click and it takes you there.

Areas (at end) is the target area, if I'd time I'd have checked what was being heard...you might get a couple...
these are being updated daily
In other news, 47 days after putting a complaint in, I finally got my statement...three emails, three phone calls and voila !! Life's a gas...
I get plenty of rest in between...
You've had it a while then. How long have Tandy been gone from the high street now...
You read Practical Wireless. Did you buy it as well...
Gonna have to find the Steepletone, and start listening to what's out there.
Computers are taking over it all, no more careful twiddling of the dial, trying to listen to that signal that should be there...
Only three e-mails! Who were you complaing to.
You've been allowed rest periods. Mrs M must be going soft on you, or has summat lined up. Be warned...

Rain again, eh?
Drought must be over now surely![]()
Bought on a regular basis early on, before the internet took over.PW? had years of it in binders...
read it occasionally now...
You can still turn the dial....
Computer-aided or not, it's still fun.
I occasionally do FM stations to see what transmitters I am picking up.
These 'black box' SDRs take some beating... 100 kHz to 2 GHz?
all you need is wire to listen.
I never listen much above 150 mhz so have one of the Youloop attached..TM51REF
There isn't much of interest to me in the GHz bands...
planes, obviously
Satellite stuff around 1.5 GHz, but I have no line of sight to the main one....
Steepletone?
It was a Benkson I had as a nipper, high tech then, it could be held in one hand...
MW and LW..
My fuel supplier, the spanish one![]()

Dry here, no rain.
Perhaps it were wrong sort o'rain that's fallen.
Bought on a regular basis early on, before the internet took over.
Then place it back with the rest of them on the shelf, having decided not to buy it.
Don't computers take away that chance find, one you try to get again.
Yer into it more than I ever were. And in a way I don't think I'd have followed. The attraction, for me, was the contact with a live person on, possibly, another continent and doing so on a regular basis. Lack of money prevented me from getting my own setup. Further hampered by those that were into it near me, moving away.
You never heard of them?

Last one I bought for when travelling. Got bust when an irate "baggage handler" launched my smaller rucksack over a fence. After his mate had tried to lift the bigger one clearly marked do not attempt a one man lift.
Fuel supplier and it only took three e-mails, that is impressive. They'd not have been as sloppy if it were the other way round.
