You're right - check out my HR (the blue line) shooting up at the end as the red team came into view - it's a good job for my health that the finish line came when it did!

My experience of the race was very different. My HR and effort was well down on the last Spring Sessions ride and I put that down to us not being able to ride at a steady pace and a lot of freewheeling down steep hills. I am looking forward to a long flat stage where the Blues can really haul some 4ss and catch up with the other teams.

Just reflecting on last nights party (and no hangover which is a bonus). I was putting out nearly 800 watts with around half mile to go. Not big numbers for some people but for me it's totally unheard of. I've got no doubt it's because it was a team effort.

Hopefully if the handicaps are good it gives everyone a chance and that's what I like. Everyone burying themselves to get to the line!

EDIT: In seconds:
Stage 1: Me at 00.0 Bill at 15.4 Lars at 16.9
Stage 2: Me at 15.8 Bill at 28.8 Lars at 00.0
Bonus1: Me at 12.1 Bill at 00.0 Lars at 18.5
Standing Me at 00.0 Bill at 16.3 Lars at 7.9

Bill, I redid the bonus sprint.
I challenged myself so as not to get depressed at getting left behind but I still got your ghost from your first run.
Despite me pulling an unrealistic 2800 watts to your 1099 at the start you still peaked at 81 kph on the first climb to my 74.
I absolutely hammered the part of the first climb and then you came past me so I almost canned it but then I realised it was me coming past me and not you so I regained my composure and dug in.
Managed to top your first ride but not your second but I was using the Classic.

As Lars says, your power figures are mental. But for some reason the Classic doesn't go quite so fast it seems. Do you know which trainer configuration gives you the best performance speed/time wise?
I'd be tempted to re try Stage 2 tonight but that could work badly against me with stage 3 ride being tomorrow, but there is always the re-run on Saturday.

That'll be because you were waiting for me

I agree that a long flat stage will suit our team really well though - looking forward to it :highfive:

I am sad that I missed the fun last night . I'm not sure what I would have given to a team other than being a lead weight .

Team White: Wow, just Wow. :wahhey:

Teams Not Red and Blue: :boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing:. I wish I could have watched that live.

Team Green: :notworthy:, insomnia and Monte. You deserved to triumph due to adversity. :bravo:.

I hope I can join in next week :mrpig:
The dynamic that is really interesting in the TTT style is it makes no difference what riders 1 & 2 or 4 get time-wise, it's all about rider 3's time. So last night after GW and I lost contact with the others it was so important we stick together and pace each other as one of us would be Team White's time. 1k out, once we know we can both make it, it's about getting to the line as fast as possible to register a time. A hard course to pace and draft ... we'll be even better on the next course, so watch out Green, Blue, Not Red ... Team White are the team to catch !!!

I just want to say that the little dancing emoji on your post was dancing perfectly with the beat of a song being played on 6 Music as I read it - quite mesmerising ^_^

Bert, I take it you set off after Bazzer to have a word in his shell like.

After giving up on that ploy, did you then ease back to allow Whorty and myself to close up, for the benefit of the team?

I think with a bit of fine tuning we are good to go again, and retain our crown - unless Geoff knoebels us.
I did try to catch bazzer but that wasn't happening he was too quick. Yer I did hang back to try and assist in getting to the line as a group. It wasn't too bad and I think with a course with longer flatish sections we ll be good.

My HR was between 163 and 174 whereas normally it drops into 150's . I think a perfect storm of overly hot loft-Ms B had the heating on when i came home!-and being on the limit coz we were proper racing. It certainly adds something to the HR when you don't want to let the team down!

I did notice that unlike me, you Bill and Lars had the same team kit design - did I miss a memo?! It looked better than my effort too so I think I'll try and change mine to match for the next race!

That's quite interesting. I thought your biggest edge would be over the hillier stages.

I didn't, at least not intentionally. Mine was from the standard kits available, dark blue with a strange lighter shade across the midriff extending towards the groin:shy: I was so glad it was blue i decided to swallow my pride and go with it. At this rate i will be choosing kits in the same loose and slightly challenged way that Adds doesxx(

Actually on closer inspection your kits were all subtly different but used the same colours so looked very similar compared to mine!
