Decided to pull my finger out and have a crack at the first 50 miles of the DD route on the turbo......OMFG......I've got some serious work to do. Bonked big time at about mile 40'ish. Had to yell to my 7 year old to ferry me Snickers and drink as he was the only one in the house. Work is going to have to go on hold, I can see it, as is family, beer and fun. Only 4 weeks Bridgy and Bill, and something tells me you guys are a little more prepared than me?

The weight is obviously an important part of it.
I'm changing shape though. I'm getting legs again, rather than sticks. The waist has gone down a bit (but not as much as I'd like). I'm using braces to hold my trousers up . That my excuse and I'm sticking to it..
but I would hazard a guess that all of this cycling has increased your cardiovascular activity lowered your blood pressure and made attacking stairs a damn sight easier.
There's the problem. Cycling has done all of the above except the last one . It is not a weight issue though :headshake:. I've had the problem all my life, crappy ankles :cursing:. Even when I was 12st @18yo my ankles would kick my ass after a day at work, feels like somebody driving a spike through them. It is the reason I came back to cycling rather than walking or, god forbid, running (I've tracked the cutoff point and it's about 6k steps, more than that and I'm going be in pain:banghead:). Swimming would be ok, but I fear the japanese near where I live .

My RHR was around 72bpm when I re-started this cycling malarky, after giving up smoking, to control my weight. 18 months later it is mid to high 40's, if I could drop more weight I think it'd go down more .

Keep it up, if it was easy everyone would do it.
Trying to persuade a younger brother to go down the same route, due to health issues. But as the saying about horses and water goes :banghead:. If I could shed the weight more it could be easier to show the benefits :cursing::evil::banghead:

Did the 2nd bonus sprint today. Took a look at the league results and thought, OK, fastest is 5min 30s or so. 10-11 minutes should be doable.

Open the session in the league to be presented with AAAC has the UK record 4min 40 something  .

OK just got on with it :cursing::B):boxing::B):surrender:. Sub 10 minutes, straight, no gaming. Thought I did well, but man the last 1/4 mile :boxing::boxing:.

Bkool thinks this would take me 4 and a 1/2 hours to complete .... I think Bkool is being rather generous to me as I'm not sure i could do that in 4 and a 1/2 days :heat::cry:
I've just looked at that again . 30 miles of climbing :surrender:. I would be looking at maybe 6 hours .

What sympathy you were getting from me went out the window with that sessions bringing into the daylight :headshake:. I've learnt that RickB takes great pleasure in inflicting hard rides, we find, on us again :banghead:. Find em, but keep them to your bkool home page, that way we can try them without too much light being shead on them .
