That is a very deceptive stage. It looks flatter than it actually is and kicks you when you don't give it the respect it deserves . I've done it twice and would only consider doing it again if part of a league :headshake:.

I may try that stage again and see if I can find that glitch that myself and Bridgy have experienced.

Good news is, well for me anyway, fmpando has done 8 stages now and did not relegate myself or Jacob from 2nd and 3rd.
Bill unfortunately has been pushed down to 11th by this.
Pep Tatche is still on 7 stages but sits above Bill in 8th so he is still a threat to my 2nd place but not Bill's 11th
Rob is on Page 1 at 48th
CXR, Worty and Goldwolfie are all on page 2 and Boxers is near the top of page 3.
Not sure if we can count Ryan in our Clan anymore but he sits at 30th with only 7 stages completed so could moves up to the low tens on Bill's heels if he completes stage 8.

One of the few jobs I will do on a car. Disc and pads. It's a great money earner for garages.
Garage: Sir needs new discs and pads.
Me: Will they last a few thousand miles as I can't afford to do them at the moment
Garage: We think that should be ok.
6 or 9 or 10k miles later depending on service interval.
repeat the conversation.
I've saved enough money on not getting them done when advised I've bought a car.

Actually, having seen the wear indicators on the pads on my car, I will leave it until the light comes on next time as there were a couple of thousand miles more on them, and the discs, but seeing as I took the day off and had bought everything I decide to get it all done.

PS: First time I have seen Froome not being able to finish what he started and then loose ground to those he left behind.

I need to do stage 1 and 2 again as i did these after I came back travelling and still getting my fitness back.I'm hopeful I can get a minute or two more off my GC time to keep my top 100 placing secure. @theboxers should be in the top 100 too once he finishes the 8th stage - should easily jump above me.

@rob01792 is a rising star on the 1st page - the winter goats league will be interesting this year ;) Need to get my climbing legs on :heat:

I think there's still a couple of riders who can bump me down further to 12th or 13th. If it got cooler I could fight back and have a go at the two ahead of me now, but it'll have to get a lot cooler.
The other thing is that I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks so not sure if/when I'll get the chance to complete the league.

Anyway, Someone else will have to start the chaingang rides for the next two Thursdays and Saturdays as I will not ne able to.

edit: if Stage 9 starts tomorrow it'll be a really good thing that I didn't do a proper ride today.

Just got to try and stay there i reckon i can gain a few minutes on stages 1 and 2 and hopefully everyone else will bugger off on holiday
There still a lot of riders only completed 6 or 7 rides when they catch up that will drop me down

i can assure you that i would have rather tried swimming coniston lake than getting up hardknott without said ring ! and i can't swim !! theres steep and there is just stupid ! - sit down and your front wheel starts lifting - stand up and your back wheel spins out  i think i am cured of my hill fetish -- till next time maybe :okay: definitly want a 34 instead of 38 next time though
Just googled and saw this... crazy

You need to check out the Fred Whitton challenge, it gets to Handknott after 80 ish miles of other hills in the Lake District. A couple of guys from the club did it this year. Fortunately they had good weather, one did it last year when the weather as kind and hand a couple of offs and a walk up Hardknott.

Found an interesting ride that others might like (http://www.bkool.com/bkoolSessionHistory/showSessionSummary/2804440) -- 7km up followed by 5km down. Average incline of over 9%, with some sections of 30% and many 15-20%. Very hard but a good workout :okay: Even the down was hard :heat: Could be a future chain gang ride?
Sounds good Whorty.

I just did stage 9 of the summer cup and it was quite tough. Took me over 56 minutes which was almost 9 minutes slower than AID.
