It's Pico Peñas de Dios - it's showing in the "Handicap Chase October 2016" league

Just had a look-I actually get slower on this the more attempts i have! It may be a lack of weight on the downhills and not being able to spin enough. Also, i dont seem to suffer speed loss going uphill the way some do but certainly do if i stop pedalling even for short periods when going downhill. Should be interesting, lungs giving out before legs:sad:

Bloody love the handicap chase!!

I'm going to have a go tonight. Judging by my recent form I'm fully expecting to get run over but I'm looking forward to it all the same.

I was going to do the chaingang tonight and chase down TB 's ghost, but with the handicap it looks like I'll have to be the hair and start that instead! What time is this? 7 for a 7.10 start or is it 6.50 for a 7 start?

It's 8 start 7:50 warmup start afaik. The theme from Jaws springs to mind .

Kilometres 7.5 to 9.5 are the ones that will hurt me most again

Hmm... Too late for me so looks like I'll be giving the handicap chase a miss and do the chaingang anyway. I'm Wfh today so ready to cycle by 6 - no way I can sit around for 2 hours and wait to ride. Looks like TB will be the hare twice tonight Lol

OK, my initial calculation of Handicaps (and therefore Start Time in elapsed minutes and seconds) is as follows. This takes no account of any fitness changes since the last Handicap Chases, so may well result in some gaps at the finish, but should serve well to make things interesting and get us some more up to date times.

Anyone new who is not on the list, I suggest you start at the same elapsed time as some one you would expect to be close to you in performance, let us know here and see how it goes. For anyone unfamiliar with the procedures, please take a look at this link Chain Gang Handicap Race

You joke, but I am wondering if I could do the chaingang first. Have a little rest, then start the handicap race. Very unlikely to finish but I might be able to have you draft me for a few miles before I bail. Probably just wishful thinking and the hump at the end of the chaingang will kill me off!

A closer look suggests this is one for those with a standard chainset: not so steep that you have to drop onto the 39 and yet steep enough on the downs that you can really get the benefit of turning that big ring.

Where's Adski? Not a squeak for ages?

We all miss you... well I do anyway, as I don't have to race you any more!
I was thinking the same. Last time we heard from him, he was really busy having started up his own business, and having completed his big events for the year I think Bkooling took a back seat for him. Hope he does return soon though - he'll need to get back in training for next year's Double Devil at some point!

Work gets in the way. On office days I leave just after 6 in the morning and get back at almost 8 at night. On home working days I start early still but finish about 5.30 so ready to ride by 6. No routine, buggers the training!
