You feeling picked on??? :B) The three of us should try and get together as I'm sure we could pace each other to a faster time.

Stage 5 again? I nearly xx( watching you go up that climb... I thought you were using the ghosts really well. I might be persuaded to re-run it however whilst I would improve my time, I wouldn't keep up with you chaps.. it's the lack of oxygen at those heights.. :reading:

Re Stage 5 - Thanks to Jim for suggesting Whorty go for 48 minutes, GW as a ghost to 'keep me honest' and thanks to Whorty i watched some of your ride so i knew what was coming

Good ride Bill, you used me good a proper:laugh::okay:

Thanks very much Andy . You made life much easier for me both as a pace man and the drafting. Sorry for using you but I did it for the team . No personal glory at all . I think your added ghosts were a little on the slow side as we didn't get any drafting from them so I reckon we could do it a fair bit quicker if we did the stage together and had some quicker ghosts. Also, sorry for picking on you, but when I looked at the league placings you seemed the obvious choice.

Ah damn, I just did that myself - would have been good to join you if I'd thought to check in here first.

I wasn't sure if I would go for it actually as I've been feeling crap with a chesty cold all day. Pretty happy with my time considering but it was one of the more unpleasant experiences of my life!

Bearing in mind what we have been saying recently it's worth noting that my time showed on the results almost immediately this time

Well done Paul. You were quick for someone not feeling their best. Pity you hadn't joined my ride, but I doubt I could have stayed with you for long. Actually, doing what I did and picking a similar rider and drafting with them as much as possible for the first 3/4 as I did is probably the best tactic for a stage like that. You really need the likes of DP and AAAC for that.

Having a couple of ghosts to hide behind is a good plan as you can keep something back for the end. I will have another go at some point so hoping that Bridgy was close to my ghost for me to sneak a little rest. There was no way I could keep up with Pep et al, they were far too strong for me.

No problem Bill I was impressed how low your heart was until near the end and you went for it. My advantage and disadvantage is I'm pretty consistent with power, so if you get on my wheel I'll drag you along. Only chance is if you're feeling a little weak and my average is just too much, doesn't often happen.:hello:

All of which made it quite a pleasant ride for me. Riding on 80% power until nearly the end then going for it. Flattish stage does of course help, and that's one I would actually consider trying to better, unlike stage 4, which I really didn't enjoy.
It's almost a pity we have the new chaingang starting as we could just repeat the winter league rides over and over and having better and better ghosts to improve our times. ^_^

Not sure a time of 48 was ever in my legs tonight.I may have second go at another time and see if I can get a sub 50 minute time :bicycle:

I am surprised DP, I thought this would be one for you.
I had a close look at Pep's stats and he is still getting power & speed data flats.
Not large ones but it is unusual to get 3 or more consecutive data points where speed and power remain flat and if you get those on a climb it's a real advantage,
He had 5 short flats in stage 3, not enough to make a huge difference but could make up quite a few seconds and make it very hard to hold his wheel on those climbs.

I would appear to be having a dip in performance at the moment, but that stage really took it out of me, it's the 3% plus hills that I cant seem to keep any real pace on. I'm getting really exhausted and can't push out the big watts continually like before xmas.
I'm going on a diet to shift some more weight, just 1 kg per week but will save the hilly stages for near the end so should find them a lot easier. It will mean I won't be as fast in the meantime as I'll be low on energy...

I had a good look at Pep's stats compared to mine and the speed graphs really bear almost no resemblance. Surprisingly he had the one dead stop whereas I had none but his lowest speed (apart from the dead stop) was 26kph and mine was 12kph. He accelerates up hills but I decelerate. His heart rate is very low, almost like he's not even trying, but maybe he is just really fit. Trainers definitely not a match though.

@Whorty - we must have been doing different sessions of WC stage 5 at about the same time, as poor old @Jim Brown was getting bombarded with the old bingly bong emails at about he same time earlier this evening.

Like Jim, that climb lost me a lot of time but the 3 of us are pretty well matched, and it would be good to work together on on of the forthcoming stages.

Any time is good for me apart from Saturday's and other CG scheduled events.
