Summer Cup Stage12 with loads of ghosts. Warmup starting at 7pm.
HID has agreed to eat later so I will be joining you guys. Can you add sh1t loads of ghosts around my time so I can use them to draft me up the leader board?

@Brusgaard That's twice in a row you've beaten me now. Looks like you're really on form now and I'll have to try and not let you get away at the start in future because no matter how hard I try I just can't reel you in once you have a lead.

Feck it! Dropped my chain half way up the hill. Couldn't get it back on, probably lost 40, maybe 60, seconds. Still managed to gain the 6 seconds I needed to jump up the GC but would have preferred the extra time on top :banghead::cry:

Good ride @BILL S :notworthy: I was Ok riding with you on the flats, but as soon as we hit the hill I get in the wrong gear and lose so much time. Then dropped chain .... i need some of those fancy electronic gears

Start your gear selection early and spin into the climb.
If your climbing cadence is say 85 then watch the coming slope change and be in gear before it starts or closer to it.
Don't panic and slam the gears, you will drop your chain if you go from big to little ring whilst on one of the smallest sprockets on the back and vice versa.
Buy a chain catcher they are worth their weight in gold and make sure your front derailleur stops are not set too far out on the big ring and in on the small.

That's my biggest fault. I can never work out the right time to change gear, and end up still in the large front ring, and a large one at the back. Still pedaling hard I then try to put it into small ring on the front. Clearly bad riding and something I need to work on.

What's a chain catcher - never heard of that? (I'll have a look on Google :okay: )

Well done Whorty. You were doing great and caught me quite easily until it all went wrong. I agree about those gears which I also lust after. Realistically that does involve splashing out for a new bike, so I have no chance as we just took delivery of this today. Its for the Mrs but I reckon as it's electric I could beat Bob and Turbo Tommy round Richmond Park on it.

I thought you was waiting for me so we could work together .... really annoying when the chain went as I let you down

I think I've said before I'm hoping to retire at 55 so saving hard for that at the moment ..... as the wife said today, I can have a new expensive bike if I want but that puts my retirement back, so what's more important  I think I'll accept the odd dropped chain if I can quit the rat race and spend more time with my wife :smooch: (always wanted to use that emoji)

And I'd love to see you race Bob and Tommy around Richmond park on that ... I think all three of you should have one. Would be hilarious

Well that's the Summer Cup done for me, having done stage 12 last night (which I didn't find too bad, suggesting I didn't try hard enough!) - hoping it'll be enough for a top 10 finish (if I'm 12th I'm still counting it as top 10 with the ELITE trainer boys in first and second!)

As the SC isn't a live stage tonight does anyone fancy doing a CG stage at 7pm? (Like in the olden days)

You can discount Esaro as well. His stats are ridiculous.
You have knocked me down to 8th for now (5th if you remove the 3 discrepant riders).
Pep is ahead of me and he has only done 10 stages (begger)
Pep aside there is no one above me that has done so little km as I have only doubled up on one stage when I helped Bill.
I my eyes therefore I am currently second (to none).
