I'm battered. I had more in the tank compared to Thursday but was totally buried with a mile to go. Then I disconnected right before the line. Bit of a shame. It said on the screen my session would be restored when I next logged in but I guess not.

Thanks Adam, Rick and Bridgy for your encouragement. Unfortunately I couldn't hold off AAAC as I was a fair bit down on performance compared to Thursday.
AAAC I sensed that your new Classic Pro slingshot machine was very similar to the pro. Downhill speed seemed to be the same and drafting looked like it'd be possible if only I could make another 150 watts or so.
And Bob, there was nothing I could do to catch you.

Sorry Bill, I anticipated you catching me at the second bump whatever I did so I caned it expecting you to be there and then that we would draft and share the pain. Heart rate up between 160 and 174 tells a story:ohmy::blush:. When I couldn't see you or AAAC I eased off a bit and then the rain came pouring in through the loft skylight so I I had to get off and close the window panicking all the time that you would catch me:rolleyes:

Well, that was a pretty lonely ride. I think I saw AAAC for a moment, but I blinked right as me passed me, and when I opened my eyes again he was gone ^_^.

As much as the on/off technique gives me a unfair advantage, NOT doing it does just the opposite. On any shift down in gradient the power plummets up to 100 watt instantly, even though I'm pushing just as hard. It will stay low for a long time even though I'm pushing hard all the way. If I hit a rising gradient the watts wil go up again. Often I would get 220 watt an a 2% gradient, even when standing up and pushing hard.

And I swear, this thing is not showing 30 watt too much on flat sections. When we measured that, we didn't take the time for things to settle, as I have discovered is needed. Holding 300 watt after settle in time, is harder than on my Tacx genius, which has proven itself pretty accurate on several occasions.

As I remember, this was also my first impression after I got the new Pro unit. This leaves me with a bit of a dilema: Do I utilize the on/off technique even though it gives me an unfair advantage, or do I deliberately punish myself not using it?

Was so busy trying to follow all the gaps and switch the video to the action that I missed restarting the recording at 20 mins!

Tried to get everyone at some stage, but focus on any battles.

Enjoy,

Geoff

I got a finish time off the recording, as you showed up to within a second or two of the line (when I switch away to avoid the classification screen): 41:29 Elapsed and 49:29 on the clock.

That's over 4 minutes improvement on Thursday, you were going great a t the end, over hauling several riders. I think I picked quite a lot of it up on the recording.

Cheers,

Geoff

Ah cool. Thanks as always for your efforts Geoff. I really appreciate it.

To be honest I think I probably need one handicap for Thursday's and another for Saturday's! (Just to make things even more complicated...) I do quite a physical job so most Thursday's I'll probably be quite tired.

Having said that I recognise all your names now as you enter the race screen so every time one pops up I think Christ I better start peddling even faster! The power you guys put down is something else!

i meant to say thanks for the messages - especially the one saying dig deep - believe me i was digging sir  i was spent
Your watts were starting to dip when I wrote that, and it's surprisingly rewarding when you post a few words of encouragement and you get a reaction, however small. But well done Berty, could see you were really trying.
