Yer there all up there now mate

Mine isn't on my home screen. I was hoping it would save to the point where I disconnected so I had some record of it. I had poor connection throughout the race to be fair so im going to have to improve my setup i think. Maybe run a cable rather than relying on wifi.

With regards the leagues I think personally I'm more likely to be available in the evenings than weekends. Particularly as the weather improves.

I seemed to have the same problem over wifi. Maybe one of these.

for what its worth i would rather handicap night be away from the weekend , as the weather improves i will be going out sat and sun on longish ones so will struggle on a sat eve and maybe a mon night - tuesdays onwards would be better but will fit in with the majority - also the times you gave me soarerv8 and randy msut have been damn near spot on - it dragged every little bit of energy out of me and as i sat there leant over the bars at the end i thought - yea - that was good . i would never have biked that hard if i was just sat on a turbo looking at a wall . so thanks Geoff and soarerv8 and Randy and even Bill who i think was trying to let me draft but i thought ' if i speed up a bit i will tuck in when he passes ' in reality i think he slowed down a bit to my speed ,saw me speed up a bit so left me in a cloud of dust making me feel like a scolded puppy sitting in the corner !

As my daughter would say:

WiFi is EVIL!

Powerline works much better, and a wire is always best.

I think the turn out showed that a week night is most popular, something like 25 to 15. The format works best when well attended.

Perhaps the first Thursday of the month, if you want to incorporate it into the chain gang leagues? That's up to Rick as he does all the work! :addict:

Is there enough demand for a Monday or Tuesday, with the goats/mooses and chain gang?

Once we reach April/May the numbers drop off anyway and last year we abandoned the chain gang. Maybe we could still get enough interest for one a month?

Although I remember a great race up Alpe d'Huez I agree flattish races work best for Handicap Chases, to promote tactics and drafting.

Probably a little shorter, although times were tumbling and the times were from 50 mins to as low as 30 mins. Too short and the handicaps will be too granular! Perhaps 30 minutes for an average time, 20 for the fastest, something like a 10k TT?

I was expecting slower time, but not less watts. I think I should have gained at least 10 watt on my Chain Gang ride, but instead I got 10 watt less. The net result of doing a session in time trial mode is more work, slower time and less avg. watt :B).

I'm not really sure what to do now . I just wanna compete fair and square but the system doesn't seem to allow that. Maybe the handicap races will be the standard by which I measure my fitness. While the watts are a bit on the low side, the speed is certainly more realistic (if I was on my TT bike). Geoff, I hope you got me a better handicap for next time, as I will continue to do the handicap races in time trial mode.

I think the best thing to do is to base the handicaps on performances in the handicap races, as they do bring out differences. However, for the first runs they have to be based on previous rides or just estimates from fitness and who you generally finish around.

Also, it is clear that very fast guys like you will find it hard to improve your times radically. AAAC did three fantastic runs but only gained seconds, whereas Wolfie and Bert gained nearly 10 minutes.

I'll adjust the algorithm to try and close, you fast boys up together, more fun for those of us watching.

If there is enough interest for it, I'd love to run this course one more time! Having got the bulk of the field from 10 minutes apart to 4 minutes, I'd like to see how close we could get! Perhaps after a rest? :okay:

Cheers Bert. We actually already have the 'Belkin' equivalent of that on each floor to improve the signal. Don't know how good Belkin is compared to others but seems generally ok. I just think running a cable from a bt socket is more of a guarantee against disconnection. Maybe I'm wrong about this...

Best to connect to the powerline with a wire and not rely on wifi at all.

A wire all the way to the router is better, but not always practical.

I will say that my previous runs on this course I done on my own. Just proves when you have someone to chase or be chased it makes a lot of difference as someone said earlier I wouldn't have put myself through that if I was riding on my own.
im up for any times but defiantly the more the merrier

I am keen to try a shorter handicap distance to tbh. It might not be as good, but we can choose our preference when we have tried both distances, would be my thoughts.

We need the chain gang to establish baselines, so picking one of the chain gang sessions that works best for the handicap makes sense.

If Rick has scheduled a TT for this month that would be ideal to try it out as a handicap next month.

I would be happy to run this course again. Even though I only did it once, I don't feel I missed out, as watching it was very engaging too. Even my dad who watched it with me was interested. I would like to point out, we weren't really both locked in the toilet, like two teenagers with a pack of cigarettes.

If someone wants to propose a time and date, I guess its just a case of participate if you can. No point in even trying to find a mutually acceptable day for 30 odd people.

With that in mind, 7:45pm on monday or tuesday would be perfect for me. Only because that is after football training and guitar lessons!! I will concede this may well be too late for the majority of people, and am happy to watch if it runs earlier.

All those in favour, say, 'AYE'!
