Ok now my excuses ahead of tonight's ride:
1/ Thursday handicap flat out
2/ Saturday handicap flat out
3/ Sunday mountain goat ride flat out
4/ Monday mountain goat ride flat out

Not sure I have much left after all that but will try my best.

:scratch:Bill, I am very dissapointed. You are not normally one to make excuses, especially in advance. I reckon this is all part of that reverse psychology bollux isnt it? Those mountain goat stages were really you tapering weren't they? You are
Watch out guys and gals, Bill is going for it tonight. Lets see if we can catch his slipstream!

I don't think some people will be able to use a Custom Title as it does not appear any where on my profile update page? Maybe you have to have a certain amount of posts before you are able to see this function?

It's under your Personal Details, not on your Profile Page.

Then you should see where to set the Custom Title, under your Avatar?

The custom title is the little phrase that appears under your cyclechat avatar...

You can set this in your Profile under Personal Details

You are quite right, if I remember correctly.

Join in the banter, you'll soon be eligible. Just not too much science please, we have enough Einsteins and Brian Cox's.

But could end up slippy on the tyres and cause you to fall off ;).
The ideal would be to release, just as you tuck in behind for a draft slingshot off me....real James Bond style!

Have you given the DD anymore thought? I am going to do it, barring a tropical storm. As the long one is the same price as the shorter version, I'll just drop down to that on the day should the weather be rubbish, my fitness be drastically below that required or I fall off again.
You definitely should, as you could potentially do every single one since its emergence last year, and become a regular. I can see it gathering quite a following in years to come.

Bkool descents are too fast and blue number descents are way faster than my wheel speed shows. I never see 40mph or over on real speed, but do on Bkool quite often. inclines +0.5 - 1.0 % sometimes feel way too hard and give slower than wheel speed, but not as far out as the descents. I have never seen blue numbers on any ascent yet....I have had black number 12% with about 350 watts...but at 85kg any climb over 6% thats more than a few seconds long will mean 39 x 23 pretty quickly as they really bite on the resistance and make it really hard to keep a sensible rpm.

The pro unit cadence estimates are also optimistic - generally about 10rpm higher than measured reality.

Interesting, the downhill part is the same but the flats are different in my beta version as I said. Thanks for reporting!

What do you mean by a speed sensor, a magnet on a spoke that goes past a pick-up connected to a cycle meter calibrated to the circumferance of the tyre when no one is sat on the bike.
If so thats exactly how the speed is calculated by BKool Trainers except the magnet is on the flywheel and the sensor is on the PCB.

Yes, I meant that kind of speed sensor, they measure actual wheel RMPs.

As the roller is an exact diameter that does not change with the weight distribution of the rider it is probably more accurate than the afore mentioned speed sensor.

Both tend to be quite accurate in most trainers when measuring direct "speed". The problem is that Bkool trainers do not broadcast the values through ANT+, only through FEC-ANT+, so they can be read only by the simulator. That is why I asked.

However when the numbers are blue who knows how fast you are going but you should be able to work it out by your cadence, gearing and tyre diameter.

This is where things are interesting because the Tacx vortex broadcasts the power, speed and cadence (the values registered by the trainer, not the ones turned to virtual by the simulator). You can get these values displayed directly in a computer or watch, and that is how you compare actual trainer speed with BSim virtual one. IN the case of Bkool trainers an external sensor is needed to do a rough comparison. It is a little confusing, I know....

The Handicap sessions are all explained here Chain Gang Handicap Race

If you want a Handicap for tonight, apply to join the Chain Gang and Handicap groups and post your Bkool username here. Then let us know your fitness level and the times from any similar rolling terrain sessions you have finished recently, and anyone here who you may usually finish near. We'll estimate an initial Handicap from that...
Thanks Geoff

I am active 2 level.on a good day. 50 yr old weighing 95kg ish
