Cheers for this new info guys....................another BKool revelation!!! With the amount of tricks i am learning here, i should be getting better times very soon, rather than treating it like a normal ride and busting my balls on every ride:hyper::bicycle:

I remember when I first found out about this too - it was a revelation! If the speed turns blue on a descent (usually a steep descent and you need to be going quite fast) you can back off and your speed will continue to climb as it replicates downhill momentum. You just have to turn the pedals slowly so it doesn't think you've stopped and want to end the session. As soon as the descent starts to level out your speed will turn white again and you'll have to pedal like mad again to keep your speed up as normal.

Obviously the faster you're going at the top of a climb leading into a descent, the sooner your speed will turn blue (and I guess your max speed will be quicker), but as I said above what I don't know is whether pedalling like mad when it is actually blue will help with speed increase at all or whether because it's blue you'rein auto pilot!
A quick sprint over the top of the hill will also helps to get the blue numbers higher quicker. Although it wasn't enough to gain on you last night.

Bridgy - I think its autopilot....I saw my blue speed 12mph faster than garmin measured speed last night. I give it the berries on the blue speed just to keep my wattage average as high as I can in line with my banzai style....but 350w on blue speed makes no difference....you could be turning slowly and get the same reading. If you are not bothered about watts, back right off and try to get your vision back/supress the nausea......
Bkool need to do a bit better on the blue speed really..

I think we ought to have a gentlemans agreement to cease on/off spike riding. Its mechanical EPO!

To be fair, with regards the downhill blue speeds, this is actually an attempt to replicate what would happen on steep downhill sections on a normal ride - or even a race - where you would get to a point where pedalling furiously was pointless and you'd tuck in and freewheel for a bit

I was going to look at your ride and compare downhill speeds but I can't see your ride anywhere??

Rod shows as having disappeared after 3.3 miles, and a few more that didn't really leave the start line.

I was sorry to have to pull out due to a mechanical issue. Looking forward to the re-run. Is it Thursday 7pm?

The next Handicap is next Tuesday, a re-run of yesterdays stage with tweaked Handicaps.

Thursday 7PM is Chain Gang night!

I think that would be very difficult. When we're two or more riders in a group, we unconsciously utilize the on/off effect. I thought about going into time trial mode if one should go for a solo breakaway, but what if e.g. you gained 1 minute and then couldn't keep the pace up? If you don't wait for the others to catch you, then you would have utilized the on/off effect.

What trainer are you on ? I see this behavior on the Wahoo KICKR since BSIM V2.54. I do not think it affects BKOOL trainers.

Or just take it like a man as you would if you had Tom Doumelin/ Tony Martin/Brad W up your chuff in a TT or if your glorious solo break ended when caught by the bunch 50m from the line....no amount of stop/start is going to help you there.....If nobody exploited the weakness in the tech it would be a leveler playing field.

When going through and off in a group you naturally get a fluctuation in effort but the aim there is to smooth that as much as you can as you don't want spikes. The harder you make it for the man behind you to come through means that he doesn't come through, leaving you to battle the wind. with two Bkoolers jointing see/saw riding as a reaction to each other its just more of the same - seeking to exploit the tech.
Not sure why its a problem to just keep the pressure on or ease a tad if your shagged..thats a bit different to no effort ease right off to full gas on off.
Not having a go at the proficient on/off'ers but I cant really see the point other than to gain an advantage to who is the best at on/off. From what I can see the best on/off'ers are amongst the strongest riders anyway, by a margin, so why no just ride 'fair and square' so to speak and see what the result is.
Repeat ...not having a snipe here. No offence intended. Just cant square it away in my head.

Ride crashed and burned 1.5 minutes into the warm down...lost! Atleast I got to the finish this time - last Thuersday it crashed with 3 minutes of the ride remaining.

General consensus seems to be never warm down in the session, save as soon as you cross the line and continue warm down in velodrome or elsewhere! Safer that way.
