Sorry AAAC if I'd tried to stay with you to the hill I'd have nothing left to attack it. It's good being in the front group though. You have options ;).
Well done guys. Great race!

I guessed you were a bit toasted today having done a goats yesterday, handicap the day before and so on, so my plan was to take you to near the end and then give myself a 30 sec lead or so just in case you did a mega slingshot on me on the final climb.
I also must admit I don't want to take much credit for today.
Last week I worked my nuts off to stay with you and on Tuesday the Goats ride was a big effort from start to finish.
But today, in the middle, when we were tooing and froing it just didn't seem hard enogh so I think there is still something wrong with my turbo set up.

That said, when you dropped back a bit I assumed you were tired and was not getting a good draft from me.
When RickB disappeared I guessed he had gone of line and could pop back anywhere and then all of a sudden he came back a then there were 3 or 4 of you a few seconds behind me.
Fearing the advantage you might gain on me as a group I put the hammer down into the climb and dug deep at the begining again fearing your slingshot but it never cam and I was able to saunter in on the final bit of the climb to save energy for my next Goats sage and to limit any handicap I might get if this is chosen for one of the Tuesday duels.

Something up with the bike, wasn't right in the warmup, after we caught Bridgy I started getting loads of sideways movement in the cranks, looks like bottom bracket is shot.

Ah hard luck kipster

Yesterdays goat ride was not full on so probably almost at full fitness today. Possibly a ride like that even helps with todays effort. Compared to the usual up/down hill courses with little or no drafting I managed a better w/kg on this one as there was very little scope for slingshots. Looking at the power graphs really shows the peaks and troughs of drafting though and although quite pronounced, not nearly as much as the usual changing ride, for me at least.
One thing I did know was the futility of racing you to the end. As soon as we hit the hill, you'd be off even with the 20 second slingshot I got from it.
Definitely getting a good draft off of you but still little tough to stay in the stream. I was sometimes at 400/450 watts while leading though and that was a bit too much for me to keep up.

I didn't go off line. Just ran out of energy and fell back

I can't say I was getting any rest behind you and was not experincing the 'sucking in' like I used to on the Classic, when as you say it is sometimes hard not to be sucked in and then spat fowards.
If we end up in that scenario again then just sit in until you naturaly feel its time to come by, I would have no issue with that.
Having to 'sprint by' probably defeats the purpose of drafting as a group

Edit - Meant to add Bill, I put an extra 10psi in the back tyre tonight as suggested to take it up to 140. I also bought a new lighter slicker tyre which will be on by Saturday.
Perhaps th 10psi made the difference today (not!)

Mrs Soarerv8 is a primary school teacher and often tries out her lessons on me knowing if they are too complex for my simple mind they are probably about right for year 6.

Tomorrow she is doing a lesson about internet safety and having just sat through a lecture about befriending people on the internet you don't know in real life I would like to point out if any of you are grooming me it will most likely turn out to be a very unsatisfactory experience for both of us.

I do think this evenings ride would make a very interesting handicap stage with all of the activity taking place in the last 2km

Speaking of internet security, are any of you getting muggy adverts on this forum. I think the Google add server has picked up on the word "Chat" and offers me links to older women dating sites:blush:.

I did make a grooming observation on here last year, causing I think some humour but also some confusion for our non British brethren. I think that whilst many of us may be impressed by high wattage ( oooer!) and especially watts per kilo the reality is if we ever met we would be more interested in each other's bikes:rolleyes:^_^ and, err, riding them;)

Was it Lars and Randy (a year or so back) who both agreed that meeting up (if they didn't live so far apart) and brushing each others hair with even the most poshest of hairbrushes would really be less exciting than getting together virtually for 100 laps of the velodrome?
