That is a great post Geoff, really interesting. Road ebike looks cool.

Is it possible to do a social ride on the Bkool as a group and keep the heart rate down? Does that make sense?

It would be possible. Whether we could actually stick to it would be another thing!

Just thinking of the social side of things. Does anyone ever use the chat facility on bkool were you can talk to close by riders?

If I had a microphone on all you would hear is huffing and puffing with the occasional f bomb at the start of steep climbs.

You will pay for this Rick! :cursing:
Just wait till I get my new trainer

In the mean time may I suggest "Week 4 in Teknikparken Hagasröm". My ghost awaits
Didnt have the heart to even attempt to challenge your ghost Bill. But it did put the notion in my head that I could pull back some more time on the stage so I challenged LB. Didnt get close to him and only improved by about 15 seconds.:headshake:

Well done for the improvement Rick. 15 seconds is 15 seconds. I hope my new unit arrives in time for me to try for some improvements.

Edit: just got a text saying it'll be delivered on Monday:smile:

A heads up. There is a new upgrade on the bsim program. I started the last summer cup ride and it froze and when I rebooted it prompted me to update.
Yep, got the upgrade yesterday too. No noticeable difference. Mainly bug fixes I'd say!

Does anyone else's Bsim pause when you go into ride details and click on riders? Or when quitting out of the ride info rather than starting it? Mine has been doing that since the last big upgrade. Freezes for about 10-15 seconds each time.

Hi guys, so I sold my bkool pro and bought a wahoo kickr... My gosh I can't even do anything past 6 percent climb now, getting trounced downhill all the time and having to push well over 360 watts just to try and keep up to someone on a bkool pro when just on the flats.. Anyone else had this when using a wahoo on bkool?

Yep, mine does the same, thought that may have been what the update was for.

I got my KICKR back before Christmas and also found it at a disadvantage to the Bkool trainers in the Bkool software.

I don't know about 6%, but certainly the climbs got a lot harder above around 10%, on the Bkool Pro it seemed to top out much past 10-12% and you could just "push past the resistance", whereas with the KICKR it would keep getting harder right up towards 20%. Chasing Bill up a 18-20% incline on a KICKR was an exercise in futility (and humiliation) ...

Getting trounced downhill was something I also got used to, as I soon discovered that unlike with the bkool trainers, the Bkool software did not simulate freewheeling at all on a KICKR and gave no gravity assist (no blue speed figures).

I complained bitterly to Bkool but they just said that "feature" was not available on the KICKR. How can say they "fully" support the KICKR then have such a fundamental difference in implementation that basically made it impossible to keep up with someone on a Bkool trainer? I was actually tempted to buy a Bkool Classic just for the multi-user leagues ...

I haven't used the KICKR since the start of April, due to health "issues", but I did wonder if they had eventually levelled the playing field, but I guess not!

On the flat I estimated the KICKR had something like a 10% disadvantage over my previous Bkool Pro, as it more accurately simulated the resistance and did not over estimate the power being put through it. I used a power meter to measure the Bkool and it was always at least 10% over estimated, on climbs sometime as much as 20% or more. The KICKR was much closer to the power meter readings, as it has it's own power meter built in. So even on the flat, you're having to work 10% harder or so.

The KICKR is a great piece of kit, much superior to the bkool, but if using the bkool software is your main focus I would always recommend the bkool trainer, especially as they now have the ANT+ control to allow occasional use in trainer road, etc.

Funnily enough, after a few months using the KICKR I found my power levels came back up to where they were on the Bkool and then exceeded them considerably. For training purposes, the KICKR seemed to give better results, I guess due to the better resistance control.

So if the aim is to improve your power and climbing abilities, the KICKR is the best, just get used to being thrashed on moderate or steep climbs, any downhills and on the flat as well!:banghead:

Nice unit this time though. Latest software an nice and smooth running.

Welcome Bonno.

If you want to join the chain gang or the mountain goats just request to join those groups. We're mostly all members of those and the leagues will start soon.
Ps. My Bkool name is JonBon. Also.. can anyone tell me.. when i'm looking through the Live rides why is the little cyclist at the bottom right either green yellow or red? Thanks

Hi Bonno

Just had a look there and as far as i can tell it signifies the ability level of the rider who set up the Live ride. yellow = Amateur, Red = Active, Green = Elite - I stand to be corrected though!
