had a go at Alpe D'Huez tonight 1 mile in 10 minutes later and that was me finished way above me. maybe next year
Try some shallower slopes first to build up the power, some steady 5% gradients over a similar amount of km, once you have them nailed, give the bigger slopes a try. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve quite quickly.

I haven't done d'Huez in under an hour, yet. My power is down a bit from when I put the turbo away in the summer so just expecting to get to the top. I won't be challenging the top of the leaderboard.

Ah rob. Sorry to hear that. Maybe you just set off to hard perhaps? My first attempt last year took 1 hr 27 mins and well under 200 watts average.

Good man. Keep at it and in a few months you'll be getting up those slopes no probs. Keep an eye out for the bkool races on most Tuesdays and Thursdays. They're always good fun. If you're on facebook look up 'bkool-English' for details of what's happening.

Just looked at the current standings after 8 of us have tried it. Rob H and I are practically the same time but I had to do just shy of 100 watts more to match him!!! I've no chance :surrender::banghead:

I'm absolutely gutted that I'll have to wait to my faulty trainer gets sent back and then I get a new trainer before I can have another go at the alpe d'huez. Hopefully it won't take long.
Wiggle are giving me the option for a refund or replace. Considering they're like £30 cheaper now, I think I'll get a refund and then re-order
But before I do,
Bill S, when you were on about the possibility that wiggle got a duff batch of trainers. Is the one you got from bkool themselves any better?
I'd like to know so that I can make the decision on where to order it from. Cheers

Hazie. I suggest you get the refund and buy direct. My new one direct from bkool is smooth and has the latest firmware. Seems to be no problem with it at all. It did cost me about £60 more than from wiggle but I can't complain considering the use I had for most of the past year.
