I'm not believing my Watts readings. I looked at Jacobs stats over this part of the ride and he barely went of 350 watts and, according to his Watt/kg and average power he weighs in at a healthy 104 kg to my diminuative 77kg and 6ft tall.

As a result I give them a good ignoring and just concentrate on the average speed which quite impressive though, and probably a bit unreal, but I'm sure that was about to drop on the climb.
My watt was very low today. I'm doing a weightloss program with training every day and not much food, so my level of energy is far from the top. But Hey, I have lost 6,5 kg so far in january and is still working hard to loose more. That will help me a lot when I'm riding mountains around in Europe in the spring

Everyone with a bkool trainer has to borrow a Wahoo KICKR or a Tacx Neo for the race!

Have we identified a recently completed stage that's suitable, decent length, not too much downhill stuff, nothing too radically steep though?

Stage 1 from this month's league perhaps?

Sorry my watt was so low today, but I was tired:wacko:. Usually it should be around 380 on this kind of session

In the real world I should be able to tuck my skinny frame in behind you and draft doing 300 watts but no way in the BKool virtual world as everything is too unpredictable.
Other than that I should be able to smash anyone on a fancy KICKR on Tacx Vortex Smart going downhill
but the latter will probably get thier own back on anything above 7% upwards and cruise on by.

Well I can definitely report that the Tacx trainer is a massive disadvantage on the downhills... I borrowed a friends Tacx Neo today to trial it on both Zwift & bkool, on Zwift it works perfect giving you momentum on the downhills. On the Bkool a completely different story, I felt my power on the flats was about right for my ability and in turn speeds where you would expect them but the minute you get an increase in the resistance you lose all your momentum, not so bad on the little climbs but when I hit the big climb at the end it felt like I hit a brick wall - I went from doing over 20mph to 6mph instantly, then the downhill section my little legs haven't peddaled so fast, I must of looked like a mad man...there was absolutely no resistance whatsoever and I was spinning the pedals has fast as I could, my max speed (and I could only hold it for a couple of seconds was 37mph) I avg around 32mph.

Don't rush out and spend a £1k on a Tacx Neo for the bkool software.

I'm sending my bkool back (again) I've given up this time...my replacement trainer has never been right, sending out low data. I want to research a few more trainers, but hopefully see you all online soon.
Wow. Nothing to deflate my ego like the fact that I beat Monte only to find out he was riding with a backpack full of lead and one of his brakes stuck.

Lol! In order for the handicap race to run correctly, everyone needs to use the same machine they logged their initial time on.
Either stage 1 or stage 2 would work. Do you want me to set one up?

I'll get right on it. I'll see if I can sort something this weekend to run next Thursday. Should be interesting.

When you guys did the last handicap race, how did it pan out? How different was the final finishing order to what you usually got at the time?

Excuse me, the KICKR is not like the Vortex, it is actually harder on the steep climbs as the resistance goes so much farther than the bkool.

It's the one time that spending a lot more on fancy kit makes you much less competitive!

Slower on the flat, harder on the climbs and disastrous on the descents. Lovely bit of kit though...

I haven't the time to edit the recordings down to a watchable length, so I've just dumped them in dropbox for a few days. Anyone care to grab them and skip through on fast forward is welcome. I'll delete them after a few days, so if you want to keep them take a copy. I promise to do a better job for the handicap!

Enjoy...
