Well, I don't even get how you do 300 Watts. The amount of power needed for me to do that, would be the equivalent of a solo ride on my race bike cruising at 40 kph (24.85 mph). I can't keep that up for too long.

Hello Mate - you are up there most rides so you must be hovering around the 300w mark or better?...you are 6 minutes faster than me on the Liam route. I have no chance in hell of getting anywhere near that. Judging by my ride today and thursday both were at Bkool ave power of 275 ish to 290 on the climbs I am maxing out for my current fitness level - I have ridden/ 'trained' a lot over the last few months and feel fitter than ever. I felt really rough at the end of todays ride and felt it was a pretty much max effort, but I am sure there would be more in a pressure situation in the group ride - you just give what you have without looking at the stats.

My HR is around 95% through these rides - I saw 165 BPM pretty consistently all through. I dont have independent on bike power (although if I could justify £600 I would get crank power) it would be great to compare. My watt bike all time best is 292w for the hour & Ive not done the 20min 'destruction test - too scared! Not sure bkool riding uses available power in the same way as road riding does.

Its just a bit of fun?!

Did my first real climb today on my Pro'd Classic.(Ovaro Zoncalon)
I'll have to stop calling it a Classic now because it is really a Pro now all be it still at 3.01 (and no sign of any firmware upgrade prompts) but certainly made from better parts IMO.
All though I didn't beat myself up today being so close to all the effort of two Chaingang handicaps it didn't take me long to spot the differences all be it I don't know how current they are with 3.06.
Slope transitions with blue numbers occur even at slower speeds when in reality the gradient would impact you almost imediately so you get some extra speed all be it reducing for a fair amount of time.
Not sure where the slope limit is set but my speed and resistance on the 18% + was the same as that for 11%. I'll have to set me a session up to validate this with the slope increasing from 1% thru to say 20 1% steps at 500m per step an see what the speed graph does at a steady wattage and then up my weight in steps and do it again.
If you look at poeple stats for the
The fact is that the trainer is well able to simulate really steep slopes by they ham limited it through the firmware

Chose a nice easy one to get the ball rolling then....in the giro they struggled like mad up there.....dirt road...wet......mostly on compact chainsets with 34 x 27...come back Bertie C...theres still a battle to win ..

On the liam ride...that 9% grade in the middle....you can see it coming but I get maybe a second of effort from the leading in grade even though 9% shows in the scale then bang it hits. I am 85kg and it stops me pretty quickly enough that I have to be on the 39 ring before the 9% hits or I am pedalling so slowly under so much pressure that I cant change without a lot of banging and clanking with zero mechanical sympathy. On one of the T of B rides there is an 18% climb that I can barely turn the pedals on - with 39 x 25. The pro is plenty able to give crippling resistance.

Same problem I had yesterday ... I forgot to change down to the small front ring when I hit that 9% and couldn't then change easily as I crunched my way up it :surrender:

My problem is just kids! They are in bed by 7:45pm, so 8pm just gives me a bit more freedom.

This is my problem too. My daughter was not impressed I didn't read her bedtime story last Thursday... At one point I thought I was going to have to recite 'mog the forgetful cat' from memory while huffing and puffing my way round the course!

Having said that I'd still try and make the 7 o'clock start if that suits others better.

I don't think my pro has changed to make the steep slopes have any less resistance. I am going to do the first goat stage today and will try to note when the speed drops and turns blue to simulate more resistance than it can produce but I think the last time it had to be above 15 percent.
I weigh 201 lbs. 92 kg

Fortunately for me and all other BKoolers the firmware now irons out the steeper slopes so that we all compete on level terms with other turbo trainers that cannot mimmic anythinnng above 7% ish.
Other than that the road never changes on a Turbo all be they increase the resistance to simulate dirt/cobles etc.
As a result my speed never dropped much below 11kph with my cadence at about 86 (a bit lower than I like to be) in my lowest gear 34/27 as it happens.
I have done some 25% on the BKool before they capped the slope simulation and they bought me down to a 4 kph crawl.

A tip is to power hard into any climbs on those flatter stages and your find that the 'inertia' simulation will take you up the first part of some pretty steep slopes pretty quickly and don't be afraid to stand up to keep on top of the gear.

For me last years battle up the Mortirolo was one of the best stages in the 2015 GdI.
I was just watching Aru get smashed by Wouter Poels in the penultimate stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.
I can't get over how messy Aru looks when he is strugling.
Even Chris Froome with all his elbows and nodding head looks smoother pressure.

At that precise point yesterday Windows asked me very helpfully with a full screen message if I wanted to do an update. Screaming NO at it didn't really help.
