LIVING THE DREAM
when the speed drops and turns blue to simulate more resistance

The only time I get the blues speed as I remeber it is on transitions i.e. the slope resistance has kicked in but the Software simulates your speed dropping more slowly.
Attached are my stats from today and as you can see the speed and power is pretty flat with the speed being about 11kph for nearly all of the climb.
The climb is pretty much about 11% all the way with some steeper 18's and 20's thrown in yet my speed and power stay flat other than for a coipel of false flats where my speed goes up until close to the end where there was a short flat and a lesser slope hence a couple of speed peaks

92kg Randy, that is you in the water then!

I wish I was that slim. I'm going to do the ride right now.

Fortunately for me and all other BKoolers the firmware now irons out the steeper slopes so that we all compete on level terms with other turbo trainers that cannot mimmic anythinnng above 7% ish.
Other than that the road never changes on a Turbo all be they increase the resistance to simulate dirt/cobles etc.
As a result my speed never dropped much below 11kph with my cadence at about 86 (a bit lower than I like to be) in my lowest gear 34/27 as it happens.
I have done some 25% on the BKool before they capped the slope simulation and they bought me down to a 4 kph crawl.

A tip is to power hard into any climbs on those flatter stages and your find that the 'inertia' simulation will take you up the first part of some pretty steep slopes pretty quickly and don't be afraid to stand up to keep on top of the gear.

For me last years battle up the Mortirolo was one of the best stages in the 2015 GdI.
I was just watching Aru get smashed by Wouter Poels in the penultimate stage of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.
I can't get over how messy Aru looks when he is strugling.
Even Chris Froome with all his elbows and nodding head looks smoother pressure.

Is it capped at 7% or am I misunderstanding what you are saying? Mine isn't. My legs tell me! It's the same when I use ant fec+ in Zwift. There is a huge difference between 9 and 15%.

I don't think my pro has changed to make the steep slopes have any less resistance. I am going to do the first goat stage today and will try to note when the speed drops and turns blue to simulate more resistance than it can produce but I think the last time it had to be above 15 percent.
I weigh 201 lbs. 92 kg

Randy, if you can push the same kind of watts as I saw you laying down in Geoff's video yesterday, I don't think you'll be worrying too much about a little bit of extra resistance.

OK, I suggest we go for an 8PM start on Tuesday, as it seems to suit more people and gives an alternative to the 7PM starts on Thursdays. Let's see if the slightly later start is popular?

See you all on Tuesday. I'll start the warm up at 7:50 pm, hopefully TheBoxers can join me, and I'll update the Handicap thread with the start times and post a reminder here.

Should all be done before 9PM... :hungry:

Bob I think its weight related. So at 77kg like myself, AAAC and LB the resistance will climb up to about 10% then it won't get any harder no matter what the gradient goes up to. For yourself at a lighter weight the resistance will continue to climb to a higher gradient, perhaps 12%.

Bill, I think Iam 77k in bkool, I certainly am in Zwift. I appreciate perception is everything but I do feel a considerable difference between 9 and the 15%. Suddenly I am struggling just to turn the pedals. I suppose it could be less than 15 but more than 9. Or perhaps I have the only 100% reliable and accurate bkool pro^_^

I do sometimes wonder if the ant fec+ is more accurate!

Bring it on! But I will be the first to pitch in with my excuse! I do have a really bad 'cough'. Oh yes, and a spot on my bum, which could well be another limiting factor. So 5 minutes off my handicap should cover it.

Thanks. I had blue numbers most of the ride. At 12% I could push past 340 watts would turn the speed back to white but even 400 didn't change anything at 17%..
Like Bobinski I feel like 16% is harder to pedal than 12%. I had to stand quite a bit on this ride.
I'm on a 53/39 with an 11--34 rear cassette. So on this ride 39 only and 32-34.
Also very low cadence because I only had a single speed bike until I was an adult.
It is nice with the time change because I keep making edits.

Just starting to catch up on the discussions. Sounds like the handicap race was a hit. Not sure if I'll be able to join any or not, but would love to go ahead and get capp'd so that if I happen to be awake and near the bike at the right time I could join. I'm slower than Whorty these days, and yes, I know he's been away and lost some fitness, same applies to me too :-)
