Ooh get me in 4th place. Being British was unsure of the etiquette of what to do as we neared the top of the hill and Stuart and I had towed each other up there.

Being born in Malta to a British father and an Irish mother, I get very confused about how I should act, queue patiently, queue jump or feck it and go down the pub.

Often the easiest thing is to pop to PC World, then at least if it doesn't work you can take it back and shout at someone.

Unfortunately they're all deaf in PC World! Shouting will get you nowhere. They are just not interested.

It's a fact, I've sued PCWorld more times than any other supplier. My understanding is that DSG have a bigger litigation dept. than they do customer services dept. That just about sums it up.

You can generally get far more for your £s elsewhere.

Another vote for Novatech...been using them for probably 15+ years. But then again, I'm comfortable building from the ground up. Their barebones systems are ideal if you're upgrading an existing setup - latest is i5 6600K Skylake, 16Gb RAM, 500Gb SSD, 2Tb HDD. Graphics are nothing fancy - 4Gb GeForce GT630 driving a WQHD 2560 x 1440 27" monitor + 40" TV (via HDMI) for BKOOL.

However, BKOOL really doesn't need a beefy PC. A much lower specced PC will do the job just fine, as it does when I use the laptop, if I connect downstairs in front of the 50" TV - when the wife & family are away without me!

It looks me and Geoff are the computer geeks in these parts.

It its just for Bkool keep the costs down to an i3 processor, get a 2gb graphics card and a small ssd and 8gb ram, budget case, good fan and over clock the processor.

But it will all come down to budget, is there a number in mind?

Edit. You could start with something like this http://www.novatech.co.uk/modifier.html?s=BB-6100A and and the graphics card etc.
Nope, y'all aren't the only ones. I just didn't have anything to add.

If y'all want to understand the inner workings of the Haswell chip from Intel, or the GPUs inside those fancy and not-so-fancy graphics cards, or even the nuts and bolts of the processor in your phone or electronic control system of your car engine, I'm your guy. I'm the poor bastard that has had to build compilers to support just about every popular and many not-so-popular computer architectures in the industry over the last 20+ years.

I built my bkool pc around an i5 intel nuc, 8gb ram and a 128gb ssd, wireless keyboard/trackpad. No glitches on video or 3d. Wired ethernet is rock solid via power line adapters. Video out is to 4k as well

The pc is not much bigger than a half tin of heinz spagetti . Only downside is the external psu

Darn it, going to miss the rerun tonight. Wifey is doing a 20 mile running event, that finishes at 4:30pm, and if I'm not there to cheer her home with the kids, I may as well pack my bags.
So I will hopefully try and fit it in a bit later this evening. Finding the turbo tougher than normal atm for some reason. Had a niggly sore throat for a few days (although I'm not logging this in the official excuse book) and wonder if it's that, or just that I need to allow myself a bit more recovery time between my Bkool near death experiences.

If you want a desktop that will run bkool with ease and give you the option to run Zwift then an upgrade from 2 to 4 gig video ram is probably a good idea. I would have thought bkool are likely to increase the hardware demands as time passes to keep up in those areas Zwift holds an advantage. Dell make quite a small PC called the Alienware Alpha that has these specs, runs nice and quiet if that's a consideration. They also often have reconditioned ones at the outlet store at around the £400 mark.i have one and its great. I have it connected to family tv and router via Ethernet and use it to run iTunes etc. for household with access to steam for the kids. Once I get loft sorted later this spring the Alpha will go upstairs connected over Ethernet and to a second hand TV for bkool, Zwift, music and gaming through steam for the boys and me:smile:

Well on your form of motivational speeches last night I think you should ask Mary if she would mind awfully running faster so you could actually be done by 3, that would then get you back in time to compete this evening.

But very good luck by the way Mary, I once ran up the stairs, didn't like it and vowed never to run anywhere ever again. Travelling 20 miles in that state is just bonkers.
