So here is a quiet news day question.

Am I the only person here who has gleefully at work told a colleague that they need to rush home as they are in a bike race that evening. Then when asked where you suddenly realise that you have to either make something up or try to explain that it is in the garage with a stack of people you have met online who may or may not be grooming you.

I now don't talk about my online life with my real life contacts!

Grooming has been mentioned here before:whistle:

I've slowed down a bit on the cycle talk at work.

I'm actively trying to avoid the tag, 'Tom the cyclist' at the moment as I suddenly became aware it may become quite boring for the people around me. Like listening to people's endless and ever changing diet regimes... Or when you get pinned into a corner at a party while some lunatic bores you to death talking about his shiny new car for 7 hours!

To get rid of that tag you could just wander around without any clothes on and become known as Tom the nudist.

No need to thank me for this advice to know I have helped is thanks enough.

An update for the insanity of the chaingang session tonight . My plan is to wait 15 seconds after the start before I get going . The reason is that it will be very difficult to work out who is who and who is trying to join onto the slow poke chaingang . If the riders wanting to join the slow chaingang also wait we should be able to get organised earlier and in theory make up the lost time over the next 90 minutes .

Well that's my plan .

That is assuming I can hold the planned speed .

My wife is getting bored of me mentioning evening races and now outdoor timetrials. I am actually quite torn whether to do 7TT tonight or join in chaingang. Cant be right that I have these thoughts

I can relate to that - as I was torn between going out this morning for a real bike ride or wait until later for the chain gang session... I went for a real bike ride, 60 miles in the sun. I will be watching later

Seems like a good plan. l'll hang around on the start line and fall in behind you once you start off for the first shift.

Would anyone be able to start the chaingang race tonight for Richard? He asked me to post this as he is scared you will all be mad at him seeing as he has had an offer of going out in the rare, sunny , positively balmy 11°c , real world this evening. I, of course, would have taken on his mantle but sadly I have to go to work

I have the same conversation at work, but thankfully I'm not the only sad bloke who uses a turbo trainer. My boss has a Vortex trainer and uses Zwift
