It is based on your next 30 minute or longer average power or the next ftp test. If you improve on either rating the the ftp goes up. It does not automaticly go down unless the ftp value has expired. You can improve at any time, the downgrade only come after the ftp expires.

I got the FTP expired email as well - looks like it expires after 2 months if you haven't had a change to your fitness level.

Right then, I'll have to give it some beans tomorrow night on the Handicap Chase or except a demotion from Bkool - it's just like a very painful version 'Snakes and Ladders' which I was playing with my Grandson earlier.

Trying to improve FTP rating is very much dependant on terrain. If you have significant downhill sections, it will be quite difficult to generate enough force to keep up a good average. Unless you push 700w going up hill and average it out

The next Handicap Chase is Pico Peñas de Dios at 8pm (plus Start Time) Tonight, 12th April 2016.

Start Times are here... Chain Gang Handicap Race

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know a competitive time for the stage, or failing that your fitness level and anyone whom you usually finish close to. Then we can agree a Start Time.

Full Instructions are here... Chain Gang Handicap Race

Please try not to sit on the Start Line (unless your Start Time is 0:00), rather enter the session pedalling when the time underway reaches your Start Time.

Time Underway can be seen so long as you do not enter the session via the Details button, rather click on the padlock image in the center of the session window!

I've recorded a little video to show the starting procedure for the Handicap race

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qdqhtro4j7tmjv2/Bkool Indoor Join Handicap Chase.mp4?dl=0

P.S. Please ignore the Warning dialog after entering the password, as it was recorded on a computer without the ANT+ dongle, and you shouldn't see it.

The Video shows selecting the live tab, applying handicap in the advanced filter to find the session, seeing the time underway counter and entering the password, then Clicking No to start the session when the underway counter gets to your handicap (in this case 15.0 minutes).

Thanks Geoff.
I hope to be there but my loft was like a sauna when I left rather late for work today. Unless it cools rapidly tonight I fear even my Uber fan will struggle to keep me cool. I will be careful to eat no later than 6pm

I'll be switching on the aircon at about 7pm. I'll need it if I'm to have any chance of catching Adam. Especially now that he's 2 levels of fitness above me

You'll be well recovered by 8pm then. If you can make it, just follow Geoff's instructions and start alongside me when you see the countdown reach 8:15:05
Hope you don't mind me volunteering a start time for Surrey Climber, Geoff. Looking at his power graph he's more than good for it.
And before anyone suggests it, this is nothing to do with me looking for drafting help to try and better my result

Schedule changed, so I will be able to join the handicap today. Hopefully I'm not the first rider out of the gate again this week.
