Tonight's Handicap Chase is a special Handicap Climb with adjusted rider weights to equalize Watts/Kg

Session is password protected, password is chase (type h twice if help screen appears)

Course is Haytor Vale - http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/576391?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1

I will start the warm-up close to 8:00pm BST (UTC+1) to ensure the race starts around 8:10pm BST (UTC+1).

Everyone taking part should adjust their weight to the allocated value before entering the warm up, preferably with at least 5 minutes to go.

Weights are generally reduced, in some cases considerably, to achieve the target Watts/Kg, so speeds should be higher than usual. The main part of the session should not take more than around 20 minutes, and in any case less than 30 minutes, to avoid changing Fitness Levels. Anyone taking longer than 30 minutes would be advised to discard their session without saving.

The Start (for everyone) should be between 8:05 and 8:10, when the warm-up ends.

Once underway, there is a short neutralized zone (0.1 miles or 0.16 km) to avoid taking advantage of the lowered resistance at start, where no-one is allowed to overtake @JLaw (or if he is not present, you must gradually increase speed to a maximum of 20 mph (32 kph) until you pass the 0.1 (0.16 km) point.

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know here and we can work out a weight Handicap from your FTP power value or similar.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it tonight as me and my bike are getting all ready for a "real world" ride at the weekend with Adam & Bridgy . Right now I'm not sure what scares me the most, Racing (lets face it, it's a race) with them, or that it's out in the real world instead of the turbo.

This is a pity because my new handicap weight has been considerably lowered by Geoff who took pity on me for my slothishness last week. Not sure if the new weight of 60kg would make me go faster or slower though. Might get a chance to try it out early next week hopefully if I'm in any fit state.

Go on, it'll only take you 15 minutes, you know you want to, imagine how nice it will feel at 60 Kg...;)

Paying the price for last week's effort I see. Are we shooting for a ~20 minute ride again? Planning to be there with the usual caveat WRT my meeting running over.

Yep, @Whorty did it in 19 minutes and 39 seconds!

Hopefully will be closer again, as most Handicap's have been tweaked from last time.

There won't be a marker at 0.1 miles, so can everyone just keep an eye on the distance reading and go for it once @JLaw reaches 0.1 miles (0.16 km)!

Really, my recorded time is slower than yours and I am up to 76kg from 73!

Ah, but I took your power figure from the video recording of your proper attempt at it!

I've adjusted the target Watts/Kg down slightly, to avoid the weights dropping too low, which is why your weight has gone up slightly, I'm actually using a lower power figure (380W) than your FTP.

Just looked at tonights session  . Have been up it on the 100ish league. 30 minutes @209 watts. I think this is going to hurt, again,:surrender:.

Yes, but you'll only weigh 34.5 Kg this time!

I remember doing this one in real life, and it was definitely one that required pacing. We were constantly passed on the way up, but several of the passing riders came back to us as the climb went on and they burnt out. Took us just under 30 minutes IRL.

Then the tour of Britain riders came through an hour or so later, and they took less than 20 minutes, having already ridden for several hours, including a couple of other long climbs. :notworthy:

Also, can we get someone else to start Thursdays and Saturdays Chaingang ride from the League tab please?

Normal business hopefully resumed next week (or is that being a little optimistic?).
It is NOT a race! Well....I won't be racing anyways! Maybe for the last 20 mile or so, the preceeding 100 miles will be about survival for me. I am pleased to report however that my legs feel fine, and have done since Sunday, which is great. Seat bones were a bit sore, but that's gone now too.

There are no timing chips on this one, so I'll just tweak my Garmin record to look good!!
