I like the idea of that Paul. Could be based on Average HR perhaps? Might be quite enjoyable compared to the flat out punishment we always seem to be doing.
Actually I've just remembered they did a HR based race on a TV program with ex sports pros a while back (a bit like the old "Superstars program but different - I forget what it was called?). They had to complete an obstacle course whilst keeping their HR below a certain level (quite low), and if it went higher they had to go back to the start and wait for their HR to go back down below the max level. If we did similar I guess we'd just do a set course and you'd have to just manage your average HR to ensure it was below the limit by the end - fastest with ave HR withing the limit wins! Drafting would be helpful...

You'd have to base if on not going over zone 3 or 4, as everyone has different HR zones.

Just checked mine on bkool (with auto calculation on) and they are a bit whacky

At 47, I shouldnt be going anywhere near 198, that's the reserve of 22 year olds.

I don't know about zone 3 or 4 - based on that it'd have to be within zone 2 surely! Anything more would be a full on effort for me

Alpe d' Huez for the Chaingang tonight. What was I thinking??? (?) Funny how one commits ones self to ridiculous tasks involving only pain and suffering as long as it's far enough away to not care at the time.

Anyway, thinking about it, it might actually be fun, and will be very different. I know that the usual group I race alongside will be somewhere up the road so I'm looking forward to my new racing buddies to swap places with numerous times hopefully.
Definitely not going to be flying off the start for this one. Slow and steady I reckon.:bicycle:

Yep, should be there tonight :okay: Legs tight from the Gowerton ride last night (excuses starting early) so no 'racing' for me tonight, just a nice slow spin :bicycle:

As for the re-run on Saturday, I wont be able to do it as I'll be out. I was going to suggest we do the Mountain Goat Ventoux ride instead for that so we could try to get all the stages done. Is anyone doing Ventoux on Sunday? I think @theboxers said something about doing it. I'll be looking at doing a fairly leisurely pace just to get the stage done and would rather do it with company than be suffering alone. Maybe we could get a few to do it. Time?
I was thinking Ventoux on Saturday afternoon/early evening (5 ish) if anyone fancies it? Again, just want to complete it, not too bothered by the time.

Slow and steady...oh, yes, I am sure that will happen:rolleyes: Bill, as soon as Bridgy goes you will be after him!
I will be starting at a moderate pace^_^ and see how that goes. I reckon drafting does work on ascents having tried it on Aspin so happy to draft with anyone in order to limit the loss to bridgy and AAAC:okay:
