You did great Tommy. You were at a disadvantage having to catch up and I had Daddy Pigs ghost to draft for a bit so while you were catching up I was cruising and keeping my HR down. My new tyre was helping too.

Cheers Bill

You really did school me though. I feared as I was catching you that you had me bang to rights. You could of dropped daddy pigs ghost but instead you stuck with him, allowing me to gain on you but conserving energy, knowing it would pay off in the end. I think it was a great move. I'm not sure there's anyway I come out on top there. I thought afterwards, maybe if I'd try to power past you, but I didn't have enough left in the tank so yeah, I was left very impressed.

Glad I could help out!:mrpig:
I would love to try and race you guys on this course but with my gut, you'd both kill me on the hills!
HID away tomorrow morning and afternoon, any rides going on I could join in on?

You helped me a lot DP. Thanks for that. Looks like we're riding Saint Chaffrey Mountain Goat league tomorrow at 5pm if that's any good for you.

Just as you say Tommy, I was conserving energy and deliberately letting you catch me. I've been around long enough to know that this can be a very good move if you're up against someone of similar speed and you want to find a way to get the better of them without suffering too much. I figured that if you were stronger than me today you'd have caught me quicker so you'd get a rest with the drafting, so felt fairly confident that I'd have more left in the tank for the end than you did.

I can't get on to the bkool site to check the stats but I have a feeling you went off too fast and paid the price later?

I'm 90kg (on a good day) so not exactly a light weight but you find if the hills aren't too long and are followed by decent downhills it can be a bit of a leveller. I have a feeling with the power you can put out you're going to get very fast.

TT, I have lost count of the number of times I chased after Bill, and the other speedo's, only to have them pull away as I got close. You have to be mighty strong and have the stamina to catch, latch on and only then relax a little whilst watching for them applying a bit more power to tease out how strong you are before they try to pull away. Draw some comfort from the fact chasing them down makes you stronger or get away faster at the start and stay with them-that will make them nervous:okay:

Tommy, I saw you join, with so many riders on the start, I missed the opportunity to grab onto the back of Bill or Bridgy over the first crest, too conservative. I had a small spell following Bob, but then the course began to descend and my naturally toned tummy muscle allowed my to cruise by.^_^ Later to be laughed at, 'come on fatboy' up the last hill

I went off chasing aaac but he kept pulling away ingo the distance until I became too exhausted to even keep up a reasonable pace at the end. I need to drop from current 102kg to my target of sub 80kg which will help my uphilling... I might even be able to keep up with you guys by then.

It's great for me having you in the races Andy

Any improvement I've made recently is a direct response to yourself and Berty making such big strides. I don't want to say too much for fear of exposing how competitive I really am!

Theboxers with regards my new heart rate monitor is it a case of just putting it on or do I have to manually pair it to bkool? Do you think it'll make a difference that I'm already using Bluetooth to pair the trainer? Also any idea how long the battery lasts between charges? It looks very smart, thanks for the recommendation

I hope you purchased the aero version that's for cycling. If you got the cheaper gym version it will knock about 3 kph off of your top end!

You may need to check that bkool has picked up the hrm in the settings tab.

I'm not sure about BLE, I believe that you can have multiple sensors just like Ant+. I hope so I've just ordered a Wahoo RPM speed and cadence pair that will be connecting to an iPhone via BLE ( the seed of doubt planted ). Edit to add. I've just remembered I was using a wahoo blue SC and a tickr hrm that I had to pair in wahoo's app iirc. So multiple BLE devices are possible. I'm just not sure about bkool and BLE.

Battery life is about 8 or so hours from my experience. I have not ridden for 8 hours in one go but 3 or 4 sessions of around 2 hours. I tend to just stick it on charge once I take it off, I do the same with the edge once off the bike. Losing your electronics due to no charge is something you only do 2 or 3 times damhik :banghead:.

One minor thing is you may need to try several positions for the scosche. Some have had issues with pick-up. I put mine on the left forearm on the outside. See here for some other suggestions

Don't be scared about the numbers you see. They are probably the same as, or maybe lower than, you were doing before you could see them . Just learn to read what they tell you.
