Cheers Bill, that was a bit mad wasn't it? I don't know where it came from. I honestly never expect to be near you.

Absolutely! Well done Tommy. That bad back and rest did you good
As for AAAC-well,![]()
Cheers Bob I was thinking the same.
As for AAAC. I'd of loved to see your race with Bridgys ghost. I thought you'd timed it wrong but then, Bang!
Just peeled myself off of the bike.
I did get it wrong to start with.
I knew how hard Bridgy smashed the downhill and I just don't seem to be able to do that, must be my bike handling skills, so my plan was to crest the climb at +1 min.
I cooked myself trying to do that and had to rest up on the descent.
At the point where Bridgy's ghost was ticking away the seconds I had a stitch setting in and some burps were coming up which is a sign for me that heartburn is coming.
So I had to keep milling over to ride through the stitch without prompting the heart burn any further so as Bridgy passed me I couldn't even jump on his wheel and I just had to stay patient waiting for everything to settle which, finally, by the last climb it did and it was time to dig again.
I didn't have much in the tank but it was enough for 12 seconds but the whole time I was fearing his strong finish.
Had Bridgy been there he would probably have taken me but then again had we been racing together my tactics would have been different i.e. using draft etc.
The nett result was a comparatively low average watts though as a result of sitting up downhill.
I might have to do an FTP just to keep my ranking, unheard of in the old days.
Even I had a alittle company this evening which made a right refreshing change..thank you..

And i wasn't in a happy place, felt sluggish all day didn't think i would make the ride but thought I'll have a steady ride, wish I never went on by half way i was struggling with grades of 3% then by 3 quarters it was grades of 1% felt wobbly at times and a real grind to turn the pedals i was determined to finish though.
I hope i feel better after a good night's sleep ready for the goat ride tomorrow.
I wondered what happened. I thought you were way ahead of me at the top of the hill.

Been driving and collecting kids this afternoon. I managed to watch on my phone the start and see part way. Great ride there Tommy, I think the tables have been well and truly turned regarding your form.

The pseudo Monte pushed me the whole way.
Well done AAAC - sounds like you paced it perfectly. you have more guts (or experience?!) than me to be able to do it like that - I tend to go full tilt from the start and try to hold on till the end! On this stage, that meant I was really struggling with that final hill so your tactics were perfect.
