One negative from tonight was the racket my turbo makes in my new pain cave. Apparently the missus could hear it from the living room two floors down... I've spent a bit of time trawling the web for solutions and one that stands out is putting kingspan under the unit. Someone else suggested an anti vibration mat for washing machines as well as the more traditional camping or bike specific foam mat.

Just wondering if anyone here has found a winning solution to this other than shoving coton wool in the ears of your nearest and dearest!

40/45 That's not three bad. I'm lucky to catch mine below 55 but then again I never check it first thing in the morning (never have time!). Done nothing but walk round town today and I have been sat down for half an hour and I'm in the high

I have a Fitbit so can see my waking or resting HR as well as length and quality of sleep etc. Decent ride last Tuesday preceded by 8hrs plus sleep Monday night and Resting HR of 44. Not so good ride Thursday, HR of 50 and just over 6h sleep described as restless. Last night shows woken 8 times! HR of 50. Anyway, that's my excuse for a ride slower than thursdays:rolleyes::laugh:

Move HID upstairs and turbo on the ground floor,
Zero cost,financially.
I will have to google kingspan now.

Edit: Got it
Stick with plan A above.

Well done AAAC - sounds like you paced it perfectly. you have more guts (or experience?!) than me to be able to do it like that - I tend to go full tilt from the start and try to hold on till the end! On this stage, that meant I was really struggling with that final hill so your tactics were perfect.

Just looked at the League results and it says 14 seconds but you crossed the lien 12 seconds after me.
You must have had a 2 second head start.

Other solution is pedal backwards, cuts down the turbo noise no end, unless you on a fixie.

Tried that

Trouble is downstairs I'm in the dining room, upstairs I've got a dedicated room so I can make it more of a permanent set up (The missus found a sketch I'd drawn which included wall mounted tv, fans and laptop shelf and wasn't impressed but more on that later...)

2 things
1. I am officially talking out my 6 oc when I say my max HR is 162. I hit 167 today after I hid my stats at he end.
No wonder I peeled myself off of the bike.
2. Is this living proof its not worth trying to hard going downhill re our average watts and watts/kg versus time to complete and my average climbing was 383 and yours 363. It was those 20 watts that gave me the edge.

TT, my rig is in the loft above my eldest sons bedroom so as to get revenge for being woken constantly etc but all he did was turn his music up:angry: So, the turbo now sits on a bkool mat, and that on top of 2 thick rugs. The noise of the turbo is much the same but the other vibration noise that made its way through the floor is greatly reduced. And my son no longer turns his music up.:okay:
