Holy shoot chaps, HID has told me we are late night shopping tomorrow night - messing with my chaingang night could end in tears (probably mine).
Doesn't she understand it's your time with the lads, sack the shopping and join us:biggrin:

If you fancy another crack over the weekend I'd prob join you. I've had no chance to get near the turbo for the last week or so due to family stuff, so I feel like I've got to do a bit of catch up...

I'm tempted to try and put in big miles over Christmas in the turbo. Wondering if anyone else is up for it?
Mostly outdoors riding for me, my turbo is with wiggle and I don't want to break the one @bazzer99 has lent me.

Did the dreaded 20 minute FTP Test earlier . Not sure I like them much xx(. Anyone else do these at all?

I used to do them a lot, found them a better way to set fitness levels than a 30 minutes climb, but they are pretty tough as you can't slacken off even for moment!

As you say, all about pacing, the perfect FTP test is a straight power graph with the average power the same as the max (and min) power. Therefore you have to start at the power you are aiming to average, rather than go flat out and ease off, or vice versa.

I used to warm up well, and start at the same power level as my previous test, or slightly higher at the power I was aiming to average. Sometimes I would just be unable to maintain that level so I'd pack it in, sometimes it would be OK so slog on.

Last few minutes, if I had anything left, try to step up very slightly to make the average as safe as possible, just in case I flagged right at the end. Doing one a week, I stepped up many fitness levels over a couple of months! And felt they were more honest than getting the same power on a steep incline, where resistance may have fallen short of what was required for the extreme gradient.

Either way, it gives you a good judge of progress. It was especially satisfying combined with steady weight loss, as the same power level as previous would often promote you a fitness level on better watts/kg...

I was thinking longer rides. Maybe 40 miles minimum, maybe 60 max, depending on climbing. If there was a few of us we could try and find a pace that suits us all or start steady and then pick up the pace closer to the end. I think I'm going to aim to ride every day barring Christmas Day between the 24th of December and maybe 5th of Jan roughly. That's my target anyway... maybe people fancy that or could just jump in for a few rides when you feel like it. It might be hard to find a time that suits everyone. For me it's probably better to start around 8 or 9 am but I'm open to ideas.

Im off from the 23rd then back on the 3rd of jan i think, the wife is working during the Christmas week so i would be at home keeping an eye on my lad so time wise for me would probably be around 10 or 11 but can try 8 or 9 to see how it goes.
Im liking the miles idea, bit of a club run style.

I'm on call from the 24th to 28th (my birthday). So the first 6 days are shot for me. Yes I know that's only 4 days but it's gonna take 2 days to recover from my birthday knowing my friends and family .

"This version of the simulador includes improvements and modifications."

I personally don't have any gripes with what Bkool are delivering however it would be nice if they let us know what the updates represent.

Software update: version bk3.011. This will help Jim be more competitive in the CycleChat Chaingang rides and slow Whorty down. It will also stop the strange looks Jim receives from HID when he tells her he's chasing GorgeousGeorge.

I thank you..

i used the new update with my cocked up winter cup ride. I didn't noticed anything wrong with the ride. I did see a big yellow box appear when I lost the internet for a few seconds. There's an improvement, I could see that colour!

That's a good time for me as long as we use initial miles to warm up! At my age you end up a bit, err, stiff in the morning...
I am also happy to do some of the rides in Zwift if anyone interested though not with the intention of being splittist:smile: It's just I will be on the Neo and I understand you guys will have a huge advantage in bkool:okay:

Anyone noticed any changes with the update?

I've just had a quick look and they've NOT fixed:

- only 8 league/favourite rides to choose from
- kit design tool for avatar (only interested as it would be nice to have for if/when we do some TTT's!)

- Password glitch - not sure yet, as I can't find any locked rides to try opening. I scheduled a ride myself with a password but it pre-fills the password for me automatically. I think this is a new thing so maybe they have fixed it? Will have to keep an eye out for a locked ride to find out.

i suspect the update is limited to adding snowmen and Xmas trees in the 3d graphics or something....
