AAAC, It won’t annoy me . It would be good to see you competing live against a greater number of riders of equivalent strength.

DP given the age profile of this group you have come to the right place to talk about a painful damaged back. I had 2 prolapsed discs over an 18 month period. Agony. Industrial strength pain killers, and was going to have an operation to remove a disc etc. Too risky so had a pretty intensive series of treatments including physio and manipulation of the damaged area with staff at the Crystal Palace sports injury clinic. On some occasions that involved stretching rack work or up to 3 people pulling and stretching me and manipulating my spine. Feck that hurt. Key to it working, for me, was moving from pain killers to acupuncture to manage the pain. It worked. Why the long story? Well, I waited to get proper treatment and was roundly criticised for it. I know that is what professionals do but the point being made was that taking pain killers was not enough. They would probably say don’t rely on the internet either
The thing is you need to know soon asap what disc may be pressing on the nerve and that isn’t not always obvious to the patient because the inflammation spreads some distance and is affected by the pressure you then place on on their parts of the spine. Also, the other pain, leg etc. can mask your understanding of where the acute pain is. So, get yourself to a physio. In meantime keep mobile. One of the best exercises and it may be on the video link above is you lie down on back knees slightly up, feet on ground. Let knees drop slowly to floor. Rest-draw breath. Now, ever so slowly and gently shuffle your hips whilst gently stretching your legs so that the effect is to elongate your lower body from the hips. This should have the effect of increasing space between the spinal vertebrae around the affected disc. I used to have a pain killer an hour or so before doing this just to relieve localised inflammation though now I would probably use an ibuprofen gel. Once comfortably stretched out I would just lie there until boredom set in.
I was advised to gently roll over when then getting up, onto knees and taking hold of something to allow the arms to take the strain. Never sit down immediately afterwards. Keep mobile,
Hope this helps AND see a specialist sports physio ideally someone who will understand you suddenly spent so much time on the turbo and likely linked.

I'll try and get to the docs this next week. Bloody painful night's sleep though.
The problem with building up core muscles is that front and back need to be balanced. This was part of my original problem 20 years ago, other muscles just ended up taking the strain which lead to 15 years of general aches. (I used to rock climb and trained by pushing 1000's of sit ups in one go, 45mins of sit ups was no fun!) As my core got weaker over the years the aches have disappeared... the body now just wobbles like jelly on a plate (as my daughter tells me)...
I might have to dig the wobble board out and see if that helps!

Give bigringvr a try there starting to bring out some flatter rides now and stunning video as well.Yep - turned off my auto renewal tooThe Elite trainer fiasco was the last straw for me. Not that the guys won, or were faster, but that Bkool were advised of the issue and just couldn't be bothered to fix the excessive speed or update their leagues. It really does just show what they think of their customers.
I still like Bkool and the choice of courses are better than the limited number on Zwift, but Zwift is definitely improving even since I last went on in May. Oh well, it was good whilst it lasted

It does just seem like a matter of time now doesn't it. Leaving bkool will still be a wrench for me, but my main motivation is trying to catch the people ahead of me. I wonder if we could set up something similar to the handicap races on zwift. If you, Bill etc move over it'll be the final piece of the puzzle really. Realistically your pro unit will clap out in the future anyway... That seems to be the point where others have gone in a different direction.
It's all down to cost - i don't want to pay for multiple platforms.

The good thing about BRVR is that you can section a ride. I did Pikes Peak in 4 1 hour sessions.
It make me want to go back to it as I can continue a ride I've started. Usually I start one and don't finish it. So next time I complete what I missed and maybe start another.
The Norway vids are great. I have only one left to do and that is Bergen

The best thing about BigringVR It's FREE
, they have a page on these very forums, have a problem? Post in the forum and they get back to you very quickly, they let you choose the next ride to be released they listen to any features or ideas you have.They have leader boards for the rides so you can race against max 5 people but are non draftable, videos are pre-downloaded so cuts down on bandwidth.
What's not to like
