Only on bkool Tommy, I cant get onto 50*11 in Zwift other than coming off the Pretzel.

Maybe I had it wrong. I thought you started on BKOOL with a much smaller front chainring?

I was going to ask that too. 50/11 is a touch harder in zwift than bsim.

Andy, I have permission to ride chain gang tomorrow so will see you there. We can help each other out if necessary:okay:

That makes sense.
I used to ride a 54/13 during a 10 in the days of low cadence and that is a 4.1 ratio, 50/11 is 4.54 so quite a bit taller at a 90+ cadence.

In fact it is an extra 40 rotations of the rear wheel per minute which I think works out to about + 5kph.

I need to work on my starts I think. And I probably need a bigger chainring...spinning like a madman on these flats. Anyway, huge thanks to @BILL S and also @Aleman for the tow! I felt I didn't do my share really, but God knows I tried though... A few more miles would have killed me.

Thank you too @perswe. Nothing worse than a lonely ride so its great that there's now more riders for getting a drafting train together for a bit of extra speed and company. My initial tactics were rubbish in that I thought I might try to stay with @bridgy and get a free tow to second place but that was unrealistic and I ended up almost wasted after just a couple of minutes. I'm pretty sure I saw 1000watts at one point and then decided I had no chance. You, @Aleman and @keithaitch were just the right speed for me though so had a great 4 way effort until Keith dropped off the back. Don't worry Keith, I'm sure you'll easily get into the points in Saturdays effort ;)

Bkool league looks to have finally started updating! I need to do a dummy run of stage 1 so you can put my adjusted time in Bill.

When i say "started" updating, no results for stage 3 yet, and just Aleman's time for stage 2 at the moment for some reason!

I did start on a 50/34, became stronger whilst recovery. I moved upto 53/39 which was fine when I moved over to a Bkool on the flatter courses but not too good on climbs. So I returned to 50 ring. This worked well as I began to spin more. Bkool doesn't have the same resistance on the flats as Zwift- let's not go there
Last night I was on either 53*11 and dropped to 12 cog so Paul would be forced to take the lead.

Yeah, a bit of a shock to the system going to Zwift have and having to drop down a couple of gears on the flat to cope with the extra resistance!

What I've been told, is to get it onto the 13 tooth ring for the start, then as the timer hits zero go off like a mad thing dropping down the gears to the 11 as quickly as you can. The reasson being is that the SIM doesn't apply the resistance as quickly as you should, so you get a good few watts for 'free' ... of course after 30 seconds you need to maintain that to stay with the front group

I have tried many different options for starting and what you've suggested above is exactly what I've done for the past 6 months or so. I used to start in top gear (11 teeth) but now I start from 13 teeth and change up to 11 teeth as soon as pedalling is up to speed. This method usually works to give me the jump on the rest and then I have the options of who to try and stick with as they come past. I don't recommend @bridgy or @CRXAndy, but sometimes @AAAC 76C is feeling generous

I think we didn't ride stage 2 as the league assigned ride as ride as nobody was getting it in their sessions, but I could be wrong, I often am!!

Thanks for the encouragement Bill, i can't make tomorrow. I repeat yesterday once the mental scars have healed. 20 kms on your own trying to limit your loses to a strong group of three working together is not something I ever want to do again. My other plan, is to try to put 3 minutes into you in the seconds half of next thursdays ride. Recovery pootle today, done, rest tomorrow ,stamina build Sunday, strength on Monday and channel revenge for last nights suffering next week!!

Bill we could of drafted together, but I wanted to get to the lead rider(there were gaps even after 15 sec of racing) and try and hold the wheel. I didn't feel strong initially and was going to let Paul's wheel go if I couldn't sustain it for more than 10 mins. I thought you would of been with Paul in those early minutes, we could of gone even quicker with 3 or more of us rotating the draft.

Yes it was a league ride. If you have a look at stage 2 of the league you should see your time is there in "My Attempts" (top left above the individual times which is currently just showing Aleman's). Just not made it to the list of individual times below this yet
