When I started my first job and bough a flat I also got a part time job in a supermarket to pay the solicitor's fee.I'm with the agency bloke on this one... Even if the bikes aren't up to much, one would still bring a smile to the face of some poor, impoverished kiddie at Christmas.
Probably some accountant said "well, we can't sell them, the bits to fix them up would cost more than they are worth, bin them". No thought about maybe doing a bit of good, and a nice bit of PR; just the P&L account.
Mind you, compared to the millions of tons of perfectly good food which supermarkets see fit to send to landfill when there's millions of people starving, I suppose this is a drop in the ocean.
I honestly think the human race is set to exterminate itself, very soon.
I opted for the bakery dept. thinking I would get to take some unsold cakes home after store closed

I was, however given the sickening job of chucking anything unsold into the skip.
There was a homeless shelter right next door and I asked why they didn't donate instead, was told anything binned is claimed back so don't give anything away or sell cheap

Left as soon as solicitor paid and I now confess I did do much secret munching
