Oh yes, you can fight it all you want but yes they are out there.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
The size of the universe means that the odds are indistinguishable from 100% that intelligent life exists somewhere outside Earth. The size of the universe also means that the odds are indistinguishable from 0% that we will ever get any kind of conclusive proof of the fact.

The thing that always gets me is when scientists say water is a criteria for life - "So, we've found water on X, so it could have supported life".

Water is essential for life on Earth. But in the entirety of the infinite universe, why must it be essential for every form of life? We discover more and more forms of life living in apparently utterly hostile environments here on Earth - the only reason we don't know of any that live without water is because water is so ubiquitous.

Water split into the most basic of building blocks of life(carbon based) Hydrogen along with oxygen as aby-product.

Alien8 is on here, so where are the others?

Do more.
Statistically there has to be some other life in the universe.
There are over 100 billion galaxies, each with billions of stars, so the odds are very high.
Whether they have the ability and technology to travel to our tiny plant, circling a small star on the edge of an insignificant galaxy is another question.

Great answer
