spend £3 at screwfix and if it doesn't work you might have to spend and extra £30. Better than spending £30 when the £3 tool might have worked. If the screwfix tool is a standard nut extractor with a left hand thread, i can't see how it won't work.
My concern is that if I use the regular nut extractor and it doesn't work, then I've already ruined any chance of the tapered tool engaging. The next option would be to dremel out a slot for a flathead screwdriver.
I should probably document this as a project. Anyone interested in seeing me try to renovate a guitar which I bought as a teenager and has since been subjected to thirty years of abuse, knocked around, setup by a drunken fool, been lent to other drunken fools, stored improperly in lofts, cellars and garages and generally neglected?
It's not a high end guitar but it is cool in its own way and I'm sentimentally attached to it. Brandoni custom Stratocaster if anyone's familiar with those. They're very silly which is probably why I like them.
