The best racing tyre?

A group of us are having a ferocious silly strava racing challenge. The segment is about 8 mile & is fast with a few hills.

My bike only has the stock tyres on & I'm looking to upgrade to some very light fast rolling boots.

What are the best regardless of price & the best bang for buck.

Lots out there but my favorite for speed/ grip are the GP4000s for wear and not much slower, the Mitch Pro 4 Endurance.

Just been looking at the GP4000s Seem to have the most reviews. Could be a winner.

The GP4000s is a great Tyre, I really like them and they were my tyre of choice until I found these.

Just to go against the flow I am now using michelin pro 4 comp tyres, they are grippy and light at only 180 grams a tyre.

Michelins also do a Pro 4 comp limited edition that is 160grams a tyre. I think puncture protection on these might be a little limited / non existent, but het if you are going for a segment...

I have run Conti 4000S but do prefer the Pro 4 comps.

I do have a pair of new boxed Conti GP 4000S that I was keeping as spares before discovering the Michelins, would be happy to let them go for £50 posted.

Just had my first ride last night on new Pro4s - wow! They feel fast, they are supremely comfortable even at 110 lbs and they feel very "rolly", very willing to roll from side to side and change direction.

I would never have thought there could be so much difference between two generations of tyre but having used Pro 3s for most of my short road riding career I can tell you there's a big difference.
