I was fortunate to play there once as a guest at a posh company 'do'.
If you want a game as a guest it will set you back a mere £495 per round.
As an ex golfer (due to health issues) I enjoy watching on tv.

The competition taking place at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport is The 154th Open (also known as the British Open). It is taking place from July 12–19, 2026,

My comment was for all on CC. Many will not know there is an actual place called Birkdale but everyone knows of Southport (sadly for the wrong reasons recently).
When i played there the company put us up in the Prince of Wales. At the time it was THE hotel but it looks to have gone down the pan now.
