If you're a fan of TCP and it's history, there's a special edition of Life in the Peloton going through the origin story of TCP with Daniel and Lionel that's well worth a listen.
Although it's not the first time I've heard it, the anecdote about Lionel thinking that Ciro Scognamiglio was a character drawn from Daniel's imagination always raises a smile.

:laugh:that's entirely understandable!

Is this one free? [and are there any Ozzies presenting it? :-/ ]

Forza TCP!!!

I listened to a recent one and actually found it quite unpleasant. Clearly they’re very sharp and insightful etc but I thought they were unkind.

What or who were they talking about?

Daniel has an occasional conversational style with his junior hires that reminds me of a previously abusive manager, but I'm minded to dismiss that as coincidence. Lionel once tried to get a friend of mine thrown off a distant relative of this place for asking about a device that Lionel considered to be a scam but I put that down to a bit of youthful over exuberance on his part.

They initially missed Richard's qualities as a chair and moderator (views on G aside) but I think they're a reasonably balanced set up now.

Didn't expect to see those two words together...

I find Daniel intensely irritating. It really misses Richard and I'm glad Lionel is back too. I did enjoy the TdF overage sans Daniel so much more.

I find Daniel intensely irritating.

I'm not surprised that some people do - but *I* think he's brilliant! A breath of fresh air compared to most sports pundits; knowledgable, multi-lingual. Able to cover both sides of contentious issues (drugs, sports-washing et al).
Brings in cultural local references without the Ned/David "oh aren't we sooo whimsical, talking about whatever we fancy!"

I took it that the conversation had moved on to the Lanterne Rouge Pod

It did! I meant the lanterne rouge chaps were being unkind. They were talking about the French team in the women’s world’s. I’m fine with them being critical of performances, that’s their job, but I thought they veered into unkindness about one rider and I don’t think that’s necessary.

I really enjoy all the podcasts in different ways. Yes Daniel is overly verbose but if I was that clever and that multilingual (and I speak 3 languages) I’d be verbose too. I really like Lionel too.

And I love the male friendship in NSF. I think it’s rare to see adult males who just really get on so well and I really appreciate that glimpse into that.

For the women’s peloton (my personal obsession) I like Wheel Talk and TCP feminin. I wish the latter was much more regular.

My problem with pretty much all the other cycling podcasts (excluding Johann Bruyneel mostly- not always either) is, that they clearly display an utter lack of understanding how pro racing works. They have no insights on how wins came about. All they really ever say is who won, who attacked (if at all) and then they move on to what Lionel had for lunch (in TCP's case) or some other issue. No one is particularly smarter for listening to them afterwards.
The Lance Armstrong podcasts are better when he isn't there, as he doesn't really watch the races and is really only looking to sell advertising.

There is plenty to get into in cycling races beyond Pogacar deciding it was time to go. Take San remo this year for example, MvdP was utterly masterful during the entire lead up to the Poggio in terms of positioning. Was always where he needed to be even on the tre capi and on the Cipressa he was between Wellens and Narvaez/Pogacar effectively blunting their attack and giving him considerably more recovery prior to Pogacar's attack. There is a strong chance that that made a significant difference to the outcome of the race.
He also let Ganna close Pogacar on his first attack and only jumped to Pogacar's wheel when Ganna started to fade. He did the same with WVA on his previous win.
I'd love for the podcasts to bring such things up, but they rarely ever do. Lanterne Rouge podcast (and YouTube videos) at least try.
