Bit too young fashion style, although if you don't end up keeping it they seem to hold their value quite well on ebay.

If you want that kind of style look out for a Barbour International original motorcycle jacket, or one of the limited edition Steve McQueen versions like this that pop up on Vinted and ebay every now and then -

That's far too casual for me. I suppose the Hackett one would probably go the same distressed look way and I don't do distressed look!🙄 I also think I'm drawn to it more for the Hackett name, than the look of the jacket.😉

I did think about it, but sadly they've sold out in most sizes, including my large size,😪 indicating the popularity of the cape! It might be popular in certain 'poncy' places, but I doubt you'll see one up here in east Lancashire!!🤔 🤣

I had a Barbour International.Duke which looked very similar to that. The quality wasn't all that to be honest and the cuffs and hem quickly started to show signs of wear and the stitching went on one of the seams and I did a DIY repair. I think the International range is more fashion than the standard Barbour stuff which is still pretty rugged and hard wearing.

It might look ok if you looked like him. But in what ever reality you live in that’s not the case. Stick with the older gentleman in classic tailoring look, don’t try to wear teenage stuff.

I've dug my Italian army trenchcoat out. I bought it over 6 years ago from the retro clothing shop I work in. I used it as a 'donor' item, as in took 3 buttons off for tweed jackets when some fell off through old age etc. I've found those 3 buttons, so I'm going to take them off those old tweed jackets as I hardly wear them now and sew them back on that trenchcoat. The coat as you can see has a 45 percent wool content, unlike the Cordings one which is only 20 percent wool, so it's quite well made and it's in good condition as in no fading, fraying etc and it has a nice lining. I do remember wearing it in heavy rain once. It stood the test and was very rainproof. I think I might've saved myself 750 quid here!😉 Plus it's 45 inches in length, which is only half an inch shorter than the Cordings coat, so it covers my knees, making it look more classier than above the knee coats.

Here you go, this is about as formal as it gets with a wax jacket, designed by Joe Casey Hayford for Barbour and only sold in John Lewis, it took me ages to find one.

The extra collar zips out so you can wear it like a sports jacket, or turn the collar up so it looks more like a normal coat.

I gave it a good waxing a few months ago but it looks better once it's worn a bit, like most wax jackets do.
