I'm sure you all noted the style pointers on the red carpet at last night's Golden Globe awards in Hollywood. We have entered a new era in which normal men no longer try to dress as flamboyant men. Even flamboyant men are dressing like normal men.
Does this forebode the End of Progress or just a return to sanity and uniform dinner suits.

i'll still be wowing the ladies with my gucci runway one from 2000, damask/velvet (actually have two, one silvery, one dark red), got me dragged onto the dance floor by a nice blond lady in annabel's, much to mrs s's amusement
not my pic...
also have a current armani one, velvet with crystal shawl collar and sparkly stripes, mmm...

Ah from that angle makes more sense. Were they referred to a hi-tops back in the day? I seem to recall having a pair of white Levi's ones back in the mid 80's, which never when near a basketball court!

I think going off those who were there, the invitation list was irrelevant. Many who were invited and said they'd be there didn't turn up. Whereas some who weren't invited, like me made the effort. As for dress, yes, I suppose I was, but then all the other men wore jeans, polyester jackets etc. So even though I played down my attire I stood out, which did get some compliments which I appreciated.😉
