Alvis Stormer prototype. Not sure of date, 1984? From distant memory we were under a tough deadline, possibly for a show or army demo, really can't remember. I do remember going out late one night for fish and chips and drinks for the crew late one night, getting home way after midnight, anything to get it finished.

I'm the useless fellow on the left in the suit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAZ-66#:~:text=The GAZ-66 is a Soviet and later Russian,is still employed in former Soviet Union countries.

There was also a Jaguar XK8 in the yard (early 4.0 car)
I recognised the registration & know the owner, so wonder if it's where the owner lives, or it's been sold to the GAZ owner?

Looks like a Soviet comms truck with that body on it.

The Lad on the left is still my Mate, Big Den ,this was taken about 73’
i don’t remember the other Lad , but on that day we had gone to the aRiver Vaser at Hameln to try out fording the Scorpions , Den had all the Jerry cans and stores on his Stally , he took me for a ride down the River in this , it was a pretty good cabby !!

My father-in-law was an Instructor on Stollies, when he was based in Germany
My memory says he was at Sennelagen(??)

Used to be a WWI female tank at Ogden Reservoir. Only a single narrow road into the carpark, but it still disappeared.

There's still a Challenger II missing in Leeds, somewhere.

1. I've run a couple of fell-races around there, but the last one was circa 2013, so it had probably gone by then?
2. Run in a XC league on the Vickers-Barnbow site, but after closure (Social club was still there though), as were a couple of the test-ramps

Barnbow has disappeared off the face of the earth, big housing estate on there now, and building work still on going

Found one, that one of the other club-members took, of me on the test-hill

Probably not been down that road, since that race

I may be in Leeds, & at loose-end this afternoon, so may work my way over to that side for a look

Perentie!!
Monday 14th

Beacon Road/B6380
Between Wibsey & Horton Bank Top
Bradford

A 6x6 home market adapted vehicle for the Australian Army
I knew of them, but have never seen one (even with a yearly attendance at Billing LR shows)
3.9 Isuzu diesel, 4 speed 'box (think the same as 101FC?)
Selectable 3rd axle drive?
Widened by about 8"

I think the other 110 is standard Aussie spec, & a 4x4

That Perentie is a very rare beast indeed, especially in the UK

Indeed it is
A LR magazine journalist that I know slightly, although not seen him for a few years, reckons "there's a handful"

I know the Irish military have to scrap their old vehicles, not sell them, I thought the Aussies were the same, but I can’t imagine there were too many perenties built in the first place

Spotted in one of the car-parks at work today (as I was going home)
I've previously seen this in a village, to the south of Wakefield
I also thought I knew who it belonged to, due to the car that was in the same drive (but the car could have simply been there for repair/storage)

But no, the suspected person walked up to it, as I came away
He's a nice guy, I will say though, it's not the archetypal vehicle you'd expect to see a Hospital Consultant driving!!! :okay:
