Whilst on holiday, in the Yorkshire Dales, l had a ‘solo’ trip over to Garsdale Station, on the ‘Settle-Carlisle’

Hawes Station
North Yorkshire

The line goes nowhere
A fair distance to the east, the ’Wensleydale Railway’ runs along a preserved section of it

To the west, it would have joined the ‘Settle-Carlisle’ at Garsdale Head (Hawes Junction) as seen immediately above

It certainly is a static exhibit, as the rails are held in the chairs with wood!

08624 outside the Freightliner depot in Ipswich on 30th May.
Although the majority of the enormous fleet of 08s have long since been retired, the few survivors seem to have found themselves a useful niche in yards and depots such as this, and I can imagine we might continue to see them for some years to come.

Bloody valuable things those Gronks; They are just as appreciated by companies and preserved lines as they have ever been!

Still a couple of those old shunters in use on Felixstowe Dock rail terminals.
