You have via verdes along abandoned rail lines now the alternative quite routes .Old drove roads, roads the new motorways have made redundant like the N111 and the ancient N111. Last pic is the col sign, no traffic today on the original N111

When I plan our Spanish rides, I always include a little bit of offroad. Wonderful place to cycle.

Another section of the Santander to Mediterranean rail line, squiggles about avoiding the big Sierra's. This has a section that still has rails, but a loop round fixes that.
