You mentioned back in June about the Santander - Mediterraneo old rail line and I went looking for it. Found this which looks an excellent ride

The motorway and the route national have made the old road quite quiet.

Looking at the pole in the first picture, how deep does the snow get there. Is this you heading too/from Madrid?

1100 /1200 m elevation and a continental climate, could get a big dump of snow . Not interested in Madrid,climbed back over the Sierra yesterday. Heading in a south west direction.
