But what a load of nonsense Rainbow Bridge is. Was this dreamt up by Americans?

I use the term just to give it a name, nothing more.

In terms of the nonsense stakes it's somewhat more believable than fanciful idiocy such as, say, British party politics or the water companies, yet people are happy to take those laughable institutions seriously.

I agree with your second sentence.

Similar genesis to many religions then, make up something that fills an emotional void as a salve and bingo, you have made some people happy. And if that is the case then it is a good thing.

But real it isn't and and it was impossible to convince a group of people on a Weimeranar forum that it wasn't real and it was a fiction.

Re para' 1. I guessed that.

Re para' 2. Not the best parallel examples as, idiotic or not, they do actually exist.

Just thought
When I was wittering about getting knocked off my bike by that car

I forgot to mention that a nice bloke on his bike stopped to check if I was OK and if I needed anything

nice bloke - actually on the same make and model of bike as me - but a more up-to-date one with internal battery and more curvy

he was very nice and hung around as if to just check I was really OK

He actually helped me more than he knew

and a few miles further on I could see him in front of me as he was going the same way as me. ratehr than ride up and pass him I slowed down a stayed well behind him
the slower pace calmed me down a lot as well

so if by any chance he is on here and reads this (he looked like a retirement thread type of person!) then
Thanks
you helped a lot!

didn;t get much of a chance to check his bladder or sphincter as we were on a public road

and I don;t tend to to that sort of thing with casual acquaintances
(or for that matter close friends)

and he was wearing a helmet

and he was wearing a jacket

so - basically - dunno

should I have had to submit to some sort fo a check in these area before I started contributing??
and if so who administers the tests
