Good morning, granddaughter had a sleepover so I got to watch a few episodes of an animated adventure called " The Sisters Grimm " based loosely on Grimms fairy tales.
Our running club Christmas lunch today with the annual awards being presented. " Runner of the Year " and an award for who has come the biggest cropper whilst running.

Whenever I take out a years anything I make an entry in Google calendar to remind me 50 weeks later.

They should ban auto renewal, and anyone dumb enough not to keep their affairs in order should suffer the consequences if they are negligent and "forget" to renew.
I'm the same, everything financial which is on an annual basis is noted in my Google calendar one month ahead. It works very well.

Morning all :hello:

What day is it? Totally lost track of time this week.
Anyway, I finally fixed the electrical problems on the Beezer - just got what should be a simple (joke) carburettor problem to solve now. Should be a 5 minute fix; which probably means a whole day of cussing in the workshop.

None of this instant carp.Rolled oats should be cooked in a saucepan.
I agree. I always use Kavanagh's oats from Aldi - they are a genuine brand, not an Aldi knock off. The best oats I've ever found. For decades I was an advocate of standing by the stove and slowly stirring a saucepan of oats and milk. I've found 3 minutes on high in our microwave has the same result............bar the odd explosion!!!!

Last time I was in Aldi there were no Kavanagh's oats. This is very serious. I emailed Kavanagh's asking if they supply anyone else. No reply yet.

It's that time of year again for me when i have to start looking at insurance of the house and contents insurance. Renewal date of 2nd January. I'm staying with admiral for contents but will be moving from them for building. Them to look around.
That's my job for today. Is the difference in cost significant? I've never considered this aspect before.

I have a friend who, unbelievably, still uses a wall calendar!

When he comes up here and we have a future date to set, he photographs the appropriate page(s) of his calendar on his phone, he uses these to sort a date with me and then amends his 'proper' calendar accordingly when he goes home. 2025!
Mrs P uses a lethal combination of a wall calendar and her phone......................and yes, before you ask, we do have the Countryfile calendar 2026. Every now and then the response to my query is "Don't you ever look at the calendar??"..........................my response has to be carefully thought out

Good morning all.
A bright start to the day here with no rain forecast today. It's a bit chilly though.
The usual dog walks to be done and then i might be able to get out on the bike for a while.

Morning.
Back to normal, grey wet grim.
Xmas tree purchased yesterday so it's decorations day today. That'll keep us and cats entertained for a few hours.

Regarding having shopping checked, it's not happened to me but in principal i'd have no objections. There is so much shop lifting going on then a minor inconvenience to help reduce it wouldn't be an issue for me.

A fraught shopping trip. We did the Tesco scan and shop and for the second visit running they picked on us for a security check and decided to scan everything. I let her scan the lot and then told her not to bother re bagging it as I didnt want it any more.

Across the road to Sainsbury's, no problems.

Have you just started using "scan and shop" with a club card? The same thing happened to me. The first few times I got a full check. Very pissed off. I'm very fussy about packing my shopping. I group things together according to where they go in the kitchen/utility room. I know very anal. I told them my bags need to be repacked exactly as I had done it. I have to give the lady her due, she got a colleague to repack while she did the scan check.

Good morning. Wind. Rain. I popped on to the Met Office app. The first message to pop up was "Rain. Now until Mon 18.00" oh deep joy!

I have slept. This is noteworthy guys. I went to bed at 9.20pm and didn't wake till 6.09am. That's nearly nine hours straight. Not even for a pee!!!! Yes, I have checked the bed! Today? It's a tricky day. The Christmas tree was purchased last weekend. Last night I put it in the porch to dry off. Today Mrs P will decorate the house. You all know what this means. Yes, Paul will be crawling around the loft cupboards looking for something or other. More deep joy.

A good ride yesterday but tougher than expected. I was on my titanium Kinesis, everyone else on carbon except my buddy on his steel Kinesis. These are great bikes but like tankers, it takes time to get up to speed and bridging even 15 - 20 yard gaps is hard work. I mentioned the planned 72 mile club ride. No one went, everyone thought it ridiculous. On my ride, which the club guys joined, we covered first three miles in 25 minutes. Mechanicals. Imagine you've got 72 miles and 3500 feet and the first 3 miles take 25 minutes! I did a little calculation. We averaged 14.7mph on a flat ride. Extrapolated that would have meant returning to the meet point at 3.00pm from the 72 miler. Speaking for myself there is no way I could have averaged 14.7 over 72 yesterday. I'm planning to message the club chair and explain this to him. If no one feeds back things stay the same.

3500ft over 72miles is what I'd class as a flat ride as well but 72 miles in winter is a lot! Is that a normal mileage for a club ride? Seems pretty excessive.

Morning gang.
A good sleep has been slept. In bed and asleep by 10, woke for a pee at 06.30, wondered if getting back to sleep was possible and next I knew it was 0815.

Last night was the grand unveiling of the granddaughters official boyfriend. She is 21 and imo a lovely girl with a figure to die for but never been serious about lads before.
He seems very nice and I hope it works for them.
Funny.... Sue (her Nana) was married with a planned baby (her mum) at age 18.

They have to check every now and again because some people are not honest

I saw a video a while ago showing how clever the person was for finding the "clever trick" of using the self scan scales and telling them it was onions when it was really apples
and how you can scan 1 thing but put 3 of them in different bags "and they will never find out"

which is why they are trained to scan every item if you have several of a thing

sorry to point this out - but with your job history I was worried that you might have too rosy a view of the mentality of the general public!!!!
