WOW - I'm allowed to eat them

That means that I can class it as medicine and not as chocolate!
Just remember not to share your medication with anyone else!

My friend still answers his phone as "Arrowbrook xxxx"
and lists it - where possible - in the same way

That was the exchange - code ARR - being used in the 1960s before "modern" exchanges were introduced and the numbers became all numeris
It can depend, but generally it's area followed by number. Or if there's been a series of calls, it becomes "Go on" with no name or number given.
Mobile it becomes hello or "Go on".

And it's not  the Wirral.

It's just Wirral.

Beg to differ. Bear in mind you are speaking to 2 people who's families have many generations of living there.
Below is the result of a recent poll.....

Perhaps not surprisingly, a massive 73 per cent of you would use the phrase ‘on the Wirral’ in everyday conversation, compared to just six per cent for ‘in Wirral

Stones from the wall on left haven't made much of an impact in the ice.

Back in the 90s I was jogging along the frozen Grand Union canal with my trainer and a woman in a Metro drove past us on the actual canal. We were waving our arms and trying to getnhee attention but she just trundled slowly on by.

Strong in the arm ???

I agree with you.
I say "on the Wirral" as its a clear peninsular. I might live IN Birkenhead but (for me) it's ON the Wirral.
OR
In my case now.....I came from The Wirral.
