Just reading about British orchards removing their fruit trees and closing down as it’s unviable due to costs here now. Meanwhile we import even more foreign fruit and veg. Something is seriously wrong with this country

Yep, I agree.
Certain things like strawberries and other soft fruits we will only eat English as that other stuff has no taste. No English = we do without.

Morning all :hello:

Well, what a difference a day makes!
Had a phone call yesterday morning from our Estate Agents to say that we are looking at exchange of contracts next week and completion on 10th March. This call was followed by one from our solicitors saying the same thing and asking us to transfer funds in readiness. The vendors agents rang me in the afternoon to confirm that all was in order and our vendors are ready to go. I then had a phone call in the evening from our vendors to say that everything was in place and they were hoping to exchange on Monday and that their removals company were good for the 10th. At last, we are talking dates.
Went into Barnstaple yesterday and paid a deposit with our removals company to pencil in 10th March. I then booked a storage unit for a month so that I can store the contents of my garage until I'm ready to move it over.
At last the lethargy of being in limbo seems to have been lifted.
Going to be busy busy over the next week or two.

Morning again.Back from a lovely 6.3 mile walk round Loch Monzievaird and home via the Distillery.

Few pics.

The ruined castle is called Castle Cluggy and sits on a high knoll overlooking the loch. There was talk of trying to save it at one point but that seems to have fallen by the wayside. The other building is an ancient Mausoleum and graveyard that sits in the grounds of Ochtertyre house. I must go down and look at the stones to see if I can make out any names and dates.

Castle Cluggy described by those selling it as a "real doer upper".

Yes. There was a couple like that. I also saw something coming from the loch and slinking into the bushes which I think was a Polecat. Don't really want them as I think they take young birds.

Beavers are amazing engineers, there was an article I saw recently about a town with a flooding problem, since they introduced beavers nearby the problem has stopped, the three dams the beavers have built have smoothed out the flow of water off the nearby moor.
