Going back to my previous post, as retirees, what daily exercise do you do?
We know that Mo and Drago are keep fit fanatics but what about the rest of you?

Well, last year was well and truly screwed with illness and I am still slowly getting up to speed but normally:

2 x Gym sessions (home) Turbo/Treadmill/Multigym each week - about an hours worth each session.

1-2 x 20-35 mile bike ride each week.

1-2 x 2-5 mile walks each week.

1 big mountain day (6-10 hours) each month - in which case I drop one, or both, of the shorter walks that week.

Once again total let down from Yodel and stayed in all afternoon, now I want get it until Monday :cursing:

Saw this feller in the outhouse, not sure of the species, had a quick look through a load of online moth pictures with no luck.

With a groovy little sinus infection which came as soon as I got home from Mexico my exercise has been coughing, sneezing andwallowing in self pity, something I think I am good at. This has been the only illness I have had in at least a decade and it has been unpleasant. Thank God I didnt get this last year while my wife was on oxygen and going down hill. It would have done her in although I guess she would have gone to the hospital, which she would have hated.
Normally I do some kind of resistance training weights, stretchy bands and body weight exercises for about 40 minutes a day, walk when I can't ride due to weather, 1/2 hour core and yoga, maybe a little Nordic Track. When the weather permits I like a little 20 mile ride, which I call "bike medicine" because it is very good for my sense of well being. I am very conscious that it is a lot easier to stay in shape than try to get in shape, and if I don't stay active (not an euphemism) I will become unable to be active.
Be safe and well

Hope the infection clears up sooner rather than later.

Stay active

Winter is 1 - 3 rides per week totalling 120/150 miles. The last few months I've been nowhere near this due to a combination of holidays, Covid, crash and weather. Despite the lack of miles I was pleased to knock out 70 miles with an average of 15mph yesterday and there was plenty more to give.

Summer 1 - 3 rides totalling 150/180, sometimes 200, for the week.

The days I don't cycle I have a small stretching routine intended to keep me reasonably supple. Also on non-cycling days I try to walk flat out for an hour. For me that's 3.2 - 3.4 miles. Enough to raise my HR to +/- 96 and make me perspire slightly.

Two things I've noticed in recent months. Climbing with any pace is getting harder. I don't think I can regain the strength for this which has been frustrating me. I've accepted it, now reaching the conclusion at nearly 69 my body is getting older and I don't need to keep pushing it. Asked the other day what events I've entered this year I replied none because I no longer want months of training to try and achieve a goal on one specific day. I don't have the motivation, just riding is enough.

Still only me around. You lucky sleeping people. Cloudy, damp and 11⁰, we were so lucky with the weather for yesterday's ride. I have coffee and toast and am nackered already as I woke at 2.30 and haven't slept since. #3 son's birthday earlier this week so we have a lunchtime family gathering today for him. That's about it. Last night's visit to the local gin distillery was very good, sadly the football results not so good. Hey ho.
