It is seriously hot here in North Wales so riding my bike is not an option at the moment, even in the evening so, it will have to wait.![]()
Good afternoon all. A hot day down here in Versailles. Its been up around 29⁰c all day.
The Palace is quite wonderful, along with the gardens, and the estate Louis XIV gifted to one of his mistresses.
No wonder the French had a revolution, the sheer opulence of the palace is mind blowing.
Here is a photo of us in the hall of mirrors.

Just tried my new air fryer out and had fish finger butties. 'Tis a learning curve so I started simple, very nice though.
We have an air fryer we no longer buy frozen chips.MrsP makes her own.Washes the potatoes.Slices them and puts them in the fryer.Better than the frozen chips 🍟🍟🍟
The chateau was finished in 1634 ( it took 21 years to build it) and the French revolution didn't happen till 1789 but I agree with you, the way the French aristocracy was living was insane and obscene compared to the rest of the French population. Having said that, it is a beautiful piece of architecture with exquisite interiors and wonderful gardens. Le Notre designed the gardens and if you look at the lake from the terrace outside the chateau, the perspective has been cheated because the lake is wider at the far end so the sides look parallel all the way. Clever engineering.
As for the fountains , there wasn't enough pressure for all the fountains to be on at the same time so the gardener had to turn off each fountain after the King had passed it to keep the next one going. History lesson finished now.
Do the fountains still work along with the music.
It was a memorable experience for us.
Don't know. I haven't been for a few years and not planning to go soon.
Sorry....it was @Paulus that was there. Yours was the info'
