Our son and his wife got back from Turkey last night so they came round to get their two dogs we were looking after whilst they were away. They are Molly's brothers by the way. Anyway, we think Molly is missing them now as she looks sad so my wife suggested we get another dog to keep her company. Don't know what to do now.

What age is Molly? If still relatively young it might work well, but if she is too old to be bothered by a new puppy, maybe not?

Of course you know what to do. Whatever your wife tells you: happy wife, happy life 😎👍

Bonjour.
Many years ago, I took my wife to see the chateau in Versailles and she was in charge of navigating our way back to Orleans, That was long before satnav technology. She kept telling me to follow the N34 but after going round the same area a couple of times, I stopped the car and asked her to show me where this N34 was on the map. She duly pointed to a point on it that did say 34 but it was the distance between two towns.

Mrs @BoldonLad used to navigate us around mainland Europe (Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Switzerland, etc), as you say, before satnav technology.

She really was very good at working out a route, and navigating, even in situations when I missed a turn (usually because I was going to fast, never because the instruction was late).

The only times we ever "got lost" were when:

a) she fell asleep

b) she decided to put cream on her legs, and was distracted by this important task.

When Sat-nav did come along, Mrs @BoldonLad:

a) never trusted the instructions, and would argue with the Sat-Nav

b) would never have a male voice, she didn't like being given instructions by a man ;)

Sadly, early stages of Dementia mean that map reading days are over for her now, but, lots of good laughs to look back on ;)

Puts me in mind of a visit to Lanzarrote. The instructions according to MrsP said turn left at the hose Iwith the blue skin I assumed it was a property with some sort of blue cladding. After four passes no house with blue skin Had a look at the directions it actually said the house with the blue sign

A trip to Spec Savers on return to England

Well, I am up and about but Mrs SD is 'never getting up, ever!'

Switched the tunes off and blew the candles out at just gone 4am but I feel quite lively.

Just cut rear lawn which is not easy as it is steeply sloped. Had to wear Tilley hat thingy with mesh net around to keep the damnable Horseflies off me.

Sweaty job, just had nice cool shower.

Dossy day today after bike ride yesterday and day in the Fells tomorrow.

Tomorrow's plans in disarray as we forgot Kirkstone Pass is closed. Cba to go up to Penrith and back down just to do Swirral & Striding. Thirlmere side of Helvellyn is dull.

So we are replanning a route later on.

Time for my Weetabix now.

Have a spiffing day all.

She is 5. We have thought about it and decided not to as another dog means another vet bill, insurance etc.... and if they don't get on I wouldn't have the heart to let it go again. I am sure Molly will settle down and anyway, she sees her siblings regularly . She knows she is very much loved .
