One of today's bits and pieces jobs was the washing machine. For a while it's been showing an E18 error code, not every wash but some. E18 is a blocked drain hose or more likely pump filter. For weeks getting the filter unscrewed has defeated me......it would only turn half a revolution instead of unscrewing.

Faced with a £100 call out charge from the local washing machine repair shop I was determined to clean the filter. After much sweating, grunting, brute force and a pair of curved jaw pliers attached in precisely the right spot I freed it.

I have removed FIVE (5) Kirby Grips from the filter along with a lot of fluff. The grips were preventing the filter from unscrewing.

I am bald. I don't use hair grips..........EVER!!!!!

Running a cycle now. I expect the filter to need cleaning again after the cycle.

When the house contained five females, the most common washing machine “maintenance” was removing bits of wire from the pump/filter. The bits of wire had come from under-wired bras.

I am going to see my son later on but my wife has the car today so I will go on my bike. It is only 12 miles away so it will take me 1 hour as the wind will be behind me for the first leg. A bit longer coming back obviously. The weather is rather cloudy and windy so far.
If it rains for coming back, he will probably give me a lift back in his car. ^_^

It’s nice having a purpose to cycling. I‘ve missed cycling over to see dad since he died. Sometimes I went over early just after he was up and we stuck the porridge on and had breakfast together and a chat, then I headed home fuelled up. Other times it was later and he was sometimes out in the garden and I would give him a hand with stuff, even although I detest gardening!
