Just got back from collecting a couple of items from Screwfix. On my way back I bumped in to an old aquaintance who I used to run with from time to time. He was out on one of his thrice weekly 5k runs. As we were nattering he enquired about parkrun and walking so I told him that "parkwalk " is held in parallel with parkrun and everyone is encouraged and made to feel welcome. He then told me of his plan, I hadn't realised quite how old he is until he informed me that he will be 90 in August and is going to take part in his first parkrun / parkwalk on the first Saturday following his 90th birthday.
Really inspirational and gave me quite a boost to realise that I'm still a mere spring chicken compared to him.

ive been having a 'interesting' time trying to find some suitable shoes that will work with toe clips...hmmm i wonder sometimes whether cycling is a cryptic, esoteric, black art.... Most MTB shoes have well rounded raised toes, trail shoes and trainers the same. Skate shoes would work but the soles might be too soft, a good old pair of brogues might do but would have to buy a cloth cap and start smoking woodbines... If you type in 'mtb flat shoes on
ah well cant sleep so made a coffee. Managed a ride yesterday but gawd was it parky on higher ground, started raining and felt water creeping through onto my arms. Wouldnt want to get a puncture in those conditions as the wind chill was wicked. Anyhow it was a good workout especially the up hill into a headwind bit...lovely!
