Been busy today
got up and found the freezer making a thumping/buzzing noise and the temperature was higher than it should be
it was also on fast freeze which means my wife must have spotted something before she went to bed (after me!)

pulled it out from the recess it lives in and discovered that the noise was not coming from the motor but from the top somewhere
which sounds like an airlock to me (bear in mind that I am John SNow -I know nothing!!)

anyway - switched it off for a minute and then back on and it just refused to start the motor at all

PANIC!!!!

left it for a while while I had a coffee but still not doing anything

noticed that the motor was quite hot

I switched it off and set 1 30 minute timer and went to research places I could get a new one QUICKLY
apparently they don;t exist
what happened to all the second hand shops that used to inhabit down-at-heel areas with used kitchen stuff on the pavement outside????

anyway - after a while I switched it back on and it did nothing

but a while later I noticed that the motor had started and now the temperature is dropping back to normal

hopefully the panic is over!!

I’ve sold my Concept 2 rower. It was yet another mad impulse buy 2 years ago and was only used about a dozen times. Just never enjoyed it much, especially with a dodgy back/sciatic issues. Pleasant chap came this afternoon and collected it.

I’ve ordered a better treadmill to take the vacant space  Running is my first love, and now that I’ve discovered that I enjoy Zwift on a treadmill, I’m sure it will at least get used.

Evening folks :okay: ive been having a 'interesting' time trying to find some suitable shoes that will work with toe clips...hmmm i wonder sometimes whether cycling is a cryptic, esoteric, black art.... Most MTB shoes have well rounded raised toes, trail shoes and trainers the same. Skate shoes would work but the soles might be too soft, a good old pair of brogues might do but would have to buy a cloth cap and start smoking woodbines... If you type in 'mtb flat shoes on ebay it wont come up with specific makes like Shimano GR5 which is what i settled with. May have to take a hammer to my clips to make them more accommodating to a rounded toe but should work ok :okay:

Right - need to actually do something today

Car is booked in for service - not expecting good news - there have been advisories on the MOT for the last 3 years
expecting they need doing this year!

anyway - just about to have some toast then put the bike in the back of the car so I can take it up there and cycle back

no idea about picking it up as it will probably be raining later!!

we shall see

have not checked Ernie yet
but Omaze are being damn slow about telling me I won that house a week or so ago!!!
Why have you banned your kids from quitting their jobs?

I've a Nordic Track that I used quite a lot when I was training for 23 Marathon , it was great when it was lashing rain outside or very cold. I was advised to to have it a few degrees tilted in incline and I found it quiet enjoyable. Pity I didn't use it a bit more and kept off the potholes outside I might have avoided injury . There is a treadmill option on my Garmin 6X pro , I found it a bit tricky setting it up on Garmin , I must have another attempt at setting it up . Good luck with yours !!

I’ve bought this.

Sends your treadmill belt speed to Zwift. I used the foot pod on the old cheapo treadmill I currently have but found it seemed to fluctuate the speed wildly. This should be more accurate.

Another cold start. Not looking forward to next week when we are supposed to get minus 5 or 6 nearly every night and barely above freezing during the day. :cold:

welsh dragon

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Coooeeeee. 0 deg here. :cold:

My daughter bought an exercise bike.and never used it. She then bought one of those Cross trainer things. It's huge
She never uses it ( i bet you can see a pattern forming here). She has now bought one of those walking pads. I wonder how long that will last.

Stay safe peeps :hello:

Morning all :hello:

Looking a bit grey out there but I doubt we'll have any snow.
Binmen have bin at 0700.
Got to get some shopping this morning and I might fill the CRV up before the Houthi situation starts raising the prices.

Morning folks of the borough, cold bug seems to be finally losing its battle with the lemsip 🥳 A good thing as we are looking after the money pits offspring later and I have pass to see Michael Jackson starring Ben in the metropolis of Huddersfield this evening.

Morning folks :okay: Its looking ominous out there,,,sky is pink with a glowering black/grey ooh errr whats coming  Sent off for some leather strips to make my own toe clip straps.. Christophe straps dont come in various lengths just 370mm which is too short for a large rounded mtb shoe  i swear the universe is doing its damnest to thwart my footware issues. Tuther day i thought i had at last found the right shoe to fit all my criteria a 'Leatt' with a skateboard shoe profile hooray! but then found every shoe size...except mine  Ah well will quite enjoy making my own straps and reshaping the clips for the perfect fit for the GR5's :okay:

OK - I'm up and breakfast has been done

have to get SWMBO up in 30 minutes as we are taking the grand-daughter to the climbing wall again
she is booked ona proper course this time - hopefully she will find someone her own age to to it with

anyway - also looking at changing the car - which is a difficult decision as I am totally out of date with what cars are around at the moment

still - give me a chance to annoy car sales-people by turing up on my bike!

A splendid day out yesterday. Visited the Bermuda Triangle, the Butcher's Dog and a micro brewery after an outstanding lunch.
Just had cheese and biscuits later in the evening but somehow managed to eat a whole wedge of Wensleydale and Cranberry to myself 🤔

I am partial to that cheese but couldn't eat a whole wedge..... I doff my hat to you.
